The location is very nice. Across from a very scenic boat dock/ramp. Near a city trail. A short drive from Mount Scotch Cap for short hike to 3 overlooks. Room is a good value, very charming. Hotel restaurant has a large menu including pizza and grilled meats. Good bar.

Room was very well maintained and clean. Note that they use a scented detergent for the bedding. Only a problem if you have allergies.

Charming is the word that springs to mind when you first see Auberge Au Soleil. Arriving early, we were welcomed by pleasant staff in the restaurant on the first floor who explained when our room would be ready and gave us some ideas for how to enjoy our time in the interim. It’s a very easy walk from the auberge to the public area at the lakefront, as well as to the Magazin (a nice little general store with great baked goods), and various historic spots. There is no shortage of scenic photo ops close by! On a clear night, be sure to visit the little nearby park where you can look up at the stars from benches intentionally built with reclined backs to make stargazing more comfortable.

My traveling companion was initially taken aback by the abundance of large motorcycles in the parking lot, as she feared we had made plans to stay at a noisy place. She quickly revised her assessment when we learned that those “bikers” were mostly mature couples out for Sunday afternoon leaf peeping who had stopped for a great lunch at one of the very few really good restaurants in the area.

Très bon choix et déjeuner 🍳 excellent.
