Room itself was nice and comfortable

Booked as we were going to chester races that day, messaged in the morning to see if would be ok to leave car on carpark as booking.com advertised free parking and we would be arriving around midday and heading straight out and be checking in later on that night around 10pm as we were staying in the city for drinks once the racing had finished. Received a message back saying the car park was already full, however when we arrived the car park was empty. We could not check in early before 4pm and check in finished at 8pm, therefore we had to pay for another uber after the races around 5.30pm to head the 6miles back to check in before 8 and then go back to the city again. When we checked in, the bar staff simply handed us the key to our room. We struggled to find how this was impossible to facilitate outside the alotted hours. We decided to eat in the pub once we got back and were told this would be ok so we bought a drink, were seated and browsing the menu only then to be told they were actually fully booked even though the restaurant was nearly empty but they could squeeze us in 2 hours if we carried on buying drinks. At this point, we decided to get back to the city again as we were starving having had to skip tea to get back to check in in the 4 hour time slot. Once back was happy to give our custom and eat there but again this proved to be difficult. The room itself was nice along with the pub and the locals, but a very odd experience.

Very friendly staff and locals. Great atmosphere in the bar. Wonderful local butter too.

Room was good - excellent shower. Clean and ‘roomy’.

Lack of a ‘menu’ food was limited to say the least.

Great value for money, was clean, decently spacious, staff was nice.

Need more plugs by each side of bed.
