Hotel Schladmingerhof

We stayed at Schladmingerhof for 9 days with Evesham Rambling Club . We found the hotel excellent. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the room comfortable and clean . The location of the hotel is very convenient, with the bus stop directly outside and just a short stroll to the centre of town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend it to others

Comfortable & clean. Efficient staff although some didn't speak English. Dinner time was a little too early (finishes 7:30) then everyone seems to go straight to bed. Bar is under-utilised, no encouragement by staff to have a drink in the bar. Dinner was tasty enough but most desserts were very simple, berries and cheap ice cream, fruit and ice cream, yoghurt and jam. I received the wrong main course 1 night. Breakfast was limited, no pastries, only tinned fruit, boiled eggs were the only hot option and if you were after 8:30 the buffet wasn't replenished. I was abandoned by Crystal as I was the only British guest so they wouldn't come to see me. I had to walk a mile into town every night if I wanted to see the reps or any other British guests. Overall a disappointing experience for me but if you like a quiet peaceful stay and like going to bed at 8pm this may be suitable for others.

Really impressed with our stay at this hotel. Ski bus is right outside and buses are regular and on time! Staff are very helpful, friendly. Food was excellent … Rooms were good … showers lovely and hot after long day on slopes. Great value and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending…

Good hotel and food. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed our holiday thanks mainly to Tom. A fantastic asset to the hotel. Hotel is on a nice quiet location on the edge of town but within walking distance.

Great Hotel, clean, good food , good ski room with heated boot racks and a fantasic wellness centre. The saff Tom and Renate can't do enough to help you from advice on the best walks to advising on the best wine..Briliant place

great breakfast buffet. Evening meal had choice of soup and main: salad and dessert were also fine. Good variety through the week. The hotel is about 1 mile from the main ski lift, but the ski bus stop is at the front of the hotel. There were always 2 ski buses at 8:30 and never any problem getting a seat. Bedroom was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Staff were very pleasant and service was efficient. Sauna / steam room included though i did not use.

Location is fine, exterior is promising, interior very disapointing, lack of charm. the managment is waiting for you, or maybe we were just lucky because the sun was shining..., but, not a smile, not a friendly word, here is your key, final. Room is basic, good matrass, horrible bathroom, no welcome drink, coffee or tea in the room. Lack of hooks fot drying ski gear. Children need to play in the hallway, if you ever plan to use the free land opposite of the hotel, watch out for the droppings and calling of the police by the owners. The hotel has a very large terras though.... No bar with sofas or relaxation place, the bar is Small Cool and situated near entrance door, too small. The staff is extremely friendly! The restaurant is basic, but wine is too expensive. Never again

Schladmingerhof has the look of an old hotel from the outside but in fact it is very modern inside. Ground floor is the small reception, bar and restaurant (breakfast and evening meals). There are 3 floors, all served by lift. Third floor probably is an extension from the original building. Basement has a wellness area, sauna, modern ski room. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wifi works okay in most places. Rooms are modern, enough to move round, plenty of storage and a safe. It would be so much better if there are a few hooks to hang up your salopettes. Beds are comfortable. There is a reading light at the bedside; and there will be a prize finding the light switch. TV has a wide selection of German speaking channels (plus Rai, BBC World and CNN). Plenty of sockets for all the chargers. Bathroom has a plenty powerful shower. Towels are changed on request. Room is presented to high standard everyday (enjoy the duvet folding show). Breakfast starts at 7:30am. It is the usual cereals, yoghurt, boiled egg, cold cut meat and cheese affair. There is not a great deal of variation; and might be disappointed if you are looking for a hot meal and fresh fruit. But coffee is "damn fine". Evening meal starts at 6pm. Typical salad, soup, main (selected at breakfast time) and dessert. Good hearty food, just what is needed for skiing holiday. Drinks are reasonably priced (settle your bills every night). Schladminger bier is excellent (brewery is not even 2 miles away). House red and white wines are also good. The hotel is some 2km away from Planai main ski lift; but ski bus stop is just in front of the hotel. Walking into Schladming town centre is around 40 minutes.

Hotel was nicely presented and restaurant staff very friendly, but the food was poor. not just for me as a vegetarian. but for my husband too. The worse veggie meal was tinned vegetables in a cream sauce with possibly tinned mashed potato. I thought about buying the cook a veg recipe book ! Some fresh fruit with breakfast would have been nice too. Dinner times were very early 6-730, which maybe suited the staff better - the last eight years of skiing in Austria it was 7 to 830.
