Bear Country Inn

Cold, stinky, dirty, and loud. There were dogs beside us scratching and banging on the walls all night. The toilet didn't flush, the alarm clock and phone was broken, and there were no utensils in the kitchenette suite that we paid extra for. Hair all over the bathroom, and toenails in the bed - the sheets obviously hadn't been changed and the floor not even swept....wads of hair everywhere. I stayed only one night then left in the morning to go to the Sandman instead. Upon checkout the clerk tried to argue with me that I didn't have a valid noise complaint; I wasn't trying to get compensated, I was just trying to check out and the clerk was very argumentative. The clerk wasted my time complaining about irrelevant social issues to someone else in the lobby even though I made clear I didn't want to hear about it, but she just stood there withholding my receipt while she forced me to continue listening to the drivel. I wanted to unpack for a few days, not check in, sleep 3 hours and rush out and wait to find another hotel. After tax, I paid $148, so for only $40 or $50 bucks more we could've gone to one of the nicer newer places in town, or I could have paid LESS to stay somewhere nicer like the Days Inn.

Great restaurant staff, good food, room looked fresh at first.

Didn't know how to access the TV, coffee pot didn't seem to work, bathtub scum you could feel but not see, bathroom heater covered in film of dirt.

We are at the hotel right now. Our room is very old, dingy, dark and uninviting. Lighting is terrible. Walls are pitted and chipped. Pillows are stiff. There is no clock in the room. The room however does appear to be clean. The hotel is well located in the center of downtown Terrace. We will NOT be back.
