"No reservation"

Excelent staff, reasonable private room, clean bathroom, and car parking for 10 euros. Skip breakfast here! it is not just a grand bargain, but it was a good stay. Excessiva relação preço/qualidade, mas cumpriu com o objetivo de dormir uma noite em Mérida num lugar razoável e decente.

"Very good"

Nice hotel near the town centre, very friendly staff. Secure parking (garage) near hotel. A very good location for exploring Merida. We stayed there only one night during our trip around Spain and Portugal. I would choose this hotel again.

"Terrible customer service. Found a much nicer hotel for a similar price!"

2.0

We booked our stay on Booking.com a week before our arrival in Merida. It's 60€ a night for a triple room which is very cheap, and I guess you get what you pay for. We were going to arrive at 6am as our coach was overnight from Salamanca. The website said there was a 24-hour reception and we gave our arrival time as 6am so they could expect our arrival. We arrived at the hotel and the man on reception unlocked the door and asked us why we were there. We said we had a reservation which he did not believe but opened the door to allow us inside to the reception desk. A very cold welcome indeed. Then he couldn't find our reservation on the system. I gave my resrvation details that he found. He said that check-in was not until 1pm, pointing to my document. We explained that we knew check-in was not until 1pm but asked if we could just wait a few hours in the reception area in the communal seating, it would not be a problem. It was still very early and no cafés or bars were open at the time, but we had just had a night coach and there was nothing we could do. The man repeated that check-in was at 1pm and "there is nothing I can do." He directed us to the main door and locked it after him! He had just thrown out 3 of his guests (3 young girls!) into the street, with no where to go. We were expected to sit on a bench nearby for a few hours to pass the time in the cold and dark after zero hours sleep, before a café would open where we could seek refuge. Terrible customer service, I was in shock. Instead of doing something so ridiculous, we cancelled our stay at the Hotel Lusitania and made our way to a much nicer hotel on the Plaza de Espana that was extremely accommodating with a room available which we could access there and then. Not so hard is it!? We are so glad to have cancelled our stay here as it ruined the beginning of our trip. We did not get refunded the 60€ for our triple room but GOOD RIDDANCE! We had a fabulous time in a much nicer hotel, which was actually not much more expensive than this hotel. There we were treated like actual human beings, with respect! We spoke Spanish, so the reception staff understood 100% what we were saying, as well as us who understood what he was saying, so there was no language barrier Wold not recommend. Find a nicer hotel even if it costs a little more, it is worth it! I have never received such poor customer service, the hotel management should be ashamed.

"Good Location...."

6.0

IF you are looking for a place to store your bags and go and see the city of Merida and the attractions, this is the place to stay. No luxury, not even TV ( mine was not working) kind of noisy but if your are looking for a cheap place with great location, this is the place to go.

"Centrally located, no frills!"

6.0

We wanted a cheap, centrally located hotel to spend the night en route to Portugal and this is what we got! They have a car park nearby which you need if driving as parking in Merida is tricky. The room was ok for the price but soundproofing is non existant (we could hear everything that was going on next door...). Apart from that all staff were friendly and especially a young man in reception who was new to the job but could speak english and was EXTREMELY helpful.

"Good Location"

I hadn't planned to spend the night, but seeing the ruins took much longer than I thought. The hotel is a short five minute walk to the main square. Not sure how long it would be to walk to the museum and the main entrance, since I did the sights before I sought out a hotel. My room was large with two twin beds, nightstand, table and chair. Bathroom was fine and everything was clean. Very quiet and I slept well. Their website quoted a price of 35 euros, IVA and breakfast included. But I was quoted 35 plus IVA with no breakfast. He tried to tell me that the on line quote was through wholesalers, but it was their own website. I probably could have bargained him down had I been prepared to walk out, but it was late, I was tired, I had already found a good parking spot on a nearby street, so I didn't feel like making a stink for the extra 3.50 euros.

"Clean Convienient No Frills"

6.0

Hotel Lusitania is convieniently located and offers good value. It is located within 10 minutes walk of most major historic sites. While not a luxurious location, it has a lot to offer in terms of ease of mobility. There is a nearby underground garage (cost 7.50 Euros) that is probably a worthwhile feature. Several restaurants in the neighborhood offer good ambience and quality. Skip the morning breakfast (5 Euros), better quality and value can be found down the street. Lovely small streets/neighborhoods in the area make walking a pleasurable adventure.
