Tollemache Arms

Quaint looking building , plenty of parking & ideally placed for our 2 night stay . Great meal deal if you eat before 5pm . Also plenty of lovely seating areas outside and some are covered. Friendly , helpful staff . Some nice walks along the canal side too .

We had the first bedroom at the top of the stairs which was small and a wee bit noisy when other customers were coming upstairs . Bathroom was also a bit small so if ever returning we would ask for a larger room if possible !

The staff were very friendly. The bed was comfy and The breakfast was good

The shower room was in dire need of refurbishment. The grout was grubby in the dated shower cubicle. I was unable to get any hot water on the first morning. I did report it to the staff, and on the second morning the shower head wouldn’t stay fixed and I still couldn’t get hot water. One of my travelling companions had asked for her fish and chips to be well done, but mine was as wellleaving the fish dry and the batter over cooked.

We had a fantastic stay, room was clean and comfy. Breakfast was excellent.

Check in was tricky as we were at a wedding. We couldn't check in before the wedding and then the staff advised us we had to be home by 9pm to check in. We negotiated to 10pm which was much better. Be mindful of this when you're booking.
