Golden Lion Hotel

The view from our bedroom window was full of wildlife with rabbits, woodpeckers, pheasants galore.

The room keys were unreliable. Many guests had the same issue and we ended up helping another guest by opening their door with our key!

Clean and quiet

Quiet area. Food very good, best steak I've had for years.

No electric car chargers.

We were contacting by the hotel the day prior to our stay to tell us that we had made a mistake and we were booked in for the 4th July not the 5th, this was clearly not true as I had all the correspondence sent from booking.com for our booking on the 5th, we went to speak to the owner who just told us there was no room for us

The food was the only let down in the bar. Camembert was a few pieces microwaved in a pot, with some toast and a spoon of chutney. Lamb was bought in a bag and the mash was reheated through the microwave as it had been over heated and had the crusty brown bits in it. I was the only person eating so no excuse really.

Staff here are so lovely and welcoming we stay here every year when we go the Grand Prix wouldn't go anywhere else always look after us so well. The food is exceptional too.

Very good value stay with a good breakfast included. Room had all the facilities you would expect - wi-fi, TV and good shower.

You have to go outside from the bedroom to the pub to eat which wasn't a problem as the weather was good but if it had been raining it wouldn't have been so good

Friendly comfortable affordable and pleasurable . Evening meal excellent.

The welcome was lovely and the staff were all really friendly. The evening meal was lovely - presented well, hot and tasty. The room was fine, and the bedding smelt really fresh which was nice. Good car park space too and a convenient location.

The WiFi was appalling, even when I asked for the router to be re-booted, it still didn’t work.
