Queens Head

The location was perfect. The staff extremely helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Room size good.

The shower had mould around the bottom 2 rows of tiles and the shower door handle was barely holding onto the one screw. Shower head was dripping all night. The basin taps had thick sludge around them. The rooms location on the top floor had an awful smell of smoke and on return I had to wash all my unused clothing due to the stench of cigarette smoke. The full cooked breakfast was shameful. The bacon was over cooked, snapped when cut into, the sausages had been reheated in a microwave, the skin had separated from the meat which was like a bullet and lastly it was not until I had finished my tea, did I noticed the cup was so stained inside it should never had been laid out but thrown. Overall the hotel is looking very tired and needs some desperate TLC.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty but portion sizes could have been more generous, extra toast, possibly. Service was good, plenty of fresh coffee but no yoghurt offered and limited fresh fruit. The hotel is pet friendly to the extent that pets are allowed in rooms and all areas but there is no garden and no other facilities available. We were given a room on the top floor accessed up four flights of stairs which was very inconvenient. The location of the hotel is at the bottom end of the main street. It is a main road through the town but was not too noisy. The high street shops, pubs and restaurants are located close by and the river bank walks were easily accessible. The hotel itself is a fairly tired and dated typical town pub/hotel with public bar. Good for cyclists and walkers.

Top floor attic bedroom up several flights of stairs was inconvenient. Also extremely warm but no fan available. The shower room was very small, difficult to use and in need of decorating. Butterflies hibernating in the corners. Very loud live music in the public bar on Saturday night and noisy delivery lorry supplying supermarket opposite at 6 O'clock in the morning each day.

Breakfast was not the best only 2 choices of cereal, my bacon butty on a brioche bun was bad The bun was black burnt and bacon barely cooked . We have stayed here a few times before I think the place needs a good revamp

The location was excellent. The room was clean and bed was comfortable.

The room we were put in was not fully ready, no towels and tea and coffee facilities not complete, and overall the whole building was very tired and dated.
