The Rochford Hotel

Location for our visit.

Attitude because of entertainment and solving the problem was something to be desired. Definitely need more training. On arrival we were informed there was a wedding. (No problem).Then informed music on till midnight, our room was number1. First off reception nearest bar and dance hall. Said they didn't have another room. Then said we could move to another hotel. Further away from our function. Bar was closed to us. Our solution was to get changed in the room to go to our function. Come back early from our function and drive home, which we did. So only used the room as a changing room. We booked bed and breakfast, and got neither. Extremely disappointed . Ruined the function for us.

The staff were generally excellent. Receptionist Claire, went to a lot of trouble to make sure we were happy to stay despite having discovered our allocated room would be disturbed by music from a wedding disco in an adjacent space. Unfortunately, no quieter room was available so she even made enquiries of other local hotels which turned out to be too expensive at such short notice! We decided to stay. The hotel was clean and pleasant. The room itself was fine though the proximity to the loud music undeniable. The breakfast was very good with polite and attentative service.

Proximity to loud music from the wedding until midnight was less of a problem than disturbance all night from wedding guests staying in the adjacent rooms - crying children, shouting parents, slamming doors. Although management cannot be blamed for the behaviour of guests, it would have been considerate to allocate rooms to visitors who were not part of the wedding party as far away as possible from the action - rather than in the midst of it! The wedding event meant some facilities were not available to other guests.

It was in the right area for us

Nice room good value for money, staff were great!

Good location, staff worked hard, good decorative order in public areas.

Bathroom facilities seemed old and in need of an upgrade. Quite a lot of road noise.

Beautiful bedroom, great breakfast and lovely service. Great location for station and airport.
