Interesting menu choices for breakfast, with generous portions. Excellent coffee and refills as required! Large, comfortable room, with fridge and sofa. Lovely pub garden.

"Comfortable rooms in a rural pub with lovelg outdoor spaces"

8.0

The room, bathroom and the bed were excellent. Facilities in the room were very good. It's a lovely location with lovely outside spaces. The staff were helpful and responsive.

Had to remake the bed as the duvet had been put in its cover the wrong way round. Being served gin and tonic in a hot glass straight from the dishwasher. Once I commented, it was transferred to a cold glass. Just inexperience, I think.

The pub was in a charming, rural location but easy to find. Lovely gardens. We ate dinner the first night and it was so good we booked for the next night. Bedroom comfy and well supplied. We’ll be back.

"Very comfortable stay, great hospitality"

9.0

Super staff, beautiful gardens, great location close to Plumpton College where we were on a course. Excellent breakfast. Very comfy superking bed, nice pillows. Good shower lots of pressure. Recently voted Wessex Pub of 2025. Interesting menu - mix of small plates and larger.. Local produce. Stunning countryside close to Lewes. Nice decor, lovely orangery for breakfast.

We were allocated Room 3 "Bluebell" which was very small but we were grateful that they hadn't downsized the bed to create more space. The pub focuses on local produce which is great but if you don't like craft beer and would like a classic brown beer you won't like the offering (my husband had the hump he couldn't have a Guinness or classic IPA).

"A bit like the curate’s egg - good in parts"

9.0

Evening meal, bedroom decor, garden

Wi-Fi signal in room was terrible. There were apparently boosters downstairs in bar but there really is no excuse for such poor Wi-Fi connection in rooms - it made it impossible to deal with a late night business zoom call because the staff had left when the bar closed around 10.30 so I could not access downstairs.

"Overall a lovely stay in a very pleasant pub"

8.0

A lovely pub with some rooms upstairs. Nice little touches in the room like fresh milk for morning coffee. Food was good, dinner was expensive but good quality.

Avoid room 1, the kitchen extractor fan is right under the window and is noisy and extracts fried breakfast fumes into your room in the morning. We also waited a long time for food both in the evening and morning.
