"Centrally located with clean, pleasant rooms, a lovely breakfast and pool area, and thoughtful staff"

10.0

We stay at this hotel every time we travel to San Jose. It is located in Escazu and access to San Jose is easy. It is also close to all shopping and services. The staff is always very welcoming. Moves fast to get you to your room. The room is clean and pleasant and large. We always use the "handicap" room for my 90 year old mom and they pull out the lifted toilet seat, etc., when they see us coming. They are always accessible and anything I ask for is given in good spirit whether it is another cup of coffee or extra towels. When we are using taxi's they always get that for me. Their usual taxi drivers are delightful. My mom is in a wheelchair for longer distances and when they hear us they come immediately to help me get her out the door and will stay to see if they can help getting her into the car. The inner courtyard with a pool and garden plants is a delightful area to get outside but still inside. They serve breakfast there by the pool. The small menu for breakfast offers enough choice to satisfy anybody and the dining area near the pool is a lovely way to start the day. A quick anecdote: the last time we were there, as soon is we were in the front door, one of the ladies ran up to me and handed me two pieces of clothing. We had forgotten a nightgown and housecoat of moms during our last stay 6 months before and they had save them for us. The staff at this hotel are kind and thoughtful and go the extra mile regularly.

The parking is on a slope. But Escazu is on the side of a hill and most things are on a slope in this metropolitan suburb. The loading area in front of the door is flat but requires some maneuvering. No problem if you are proceeding at a paced speed and not in a huge hurry. Obviously, this is not something that they can change but good for people to know. Just the same, the stay inside is worth the extra time it takes in the parking lot. My mom is 90 and in a wheelchair and it's still worth it.

"Convenient and affordable"

10.0

This is a great place to stay while getting dental work in San Jose. It is safe, clean, and comfortable. It is very close to the hospitals and dental clinics and the breakfast is tasty.

I wish they had plastic baggies with frozen water for ice packs. I made my own in my room’s refrigerator.

"Saddest breakfast ever"

3.0

Very disapointing breakfast experience. Staff has earphones on to avoid speaking with customers during breakfast service. Breakfast (gallo pinto) is ridiculous: I got mostly rice, almost no beans (usual recipe is 50% mix of both rice and beans). Fruits: thinnest ever fruit slices I have ever seen. En español: el desayuno mas triste de Costa Rica, un gallo pinto con 95% de arroz, 5% de frijoles. Frutas cortadas en tajadas tipo radiografia.
