"Very good"

This hotel offers incredible value. It's far from the highest quality, but in terms of price to comfort I doubt it can be beat.

This may just be a problem in all of Costa Rica, but there were often flying insects in my room. Nothing shocking, just the occasional mosquito or small fly.

"Beware the Internal Room - Unless You Like Noise, No Privacy, Darkness and Gloom!"

4.0

A pleasant welcome from the young woman. She gave me a large jug of chilled water and a glass (I asked because my room had no cup to drink from). It is convenient if you are visiting CIMA hospital. You can walk straight to it in 20 mins up the street, which feels safe - there are embassies and many 'ex pat' residences along the way. The room is a good size and has plenty of hot water, but read below for my other thoughts about it.

The main reason for my low score is the horrible internal room that I was given. It is situated in an exposed position on it's own, opposite the lobby and kitchen, with a large slatted glass window that makes you feel you have no privacy at all. I actually thought there was someone in my bathroom, but it turned out to be the managers talking outside the bathroom window. So there are sources of noise on three sides of this room! It is also very bare, with no kettle or coffee maker or even a cup to drink to from. I had an appointment at Cima Hospital at 6am next day and desperately needed to sleep but was then kept awake for over two hours by three people talking on the armchairs in the lobby. They finally stopped droning on, but then one of them stayed there and started making a speaker-phone call to someone! I saw the manager lady in the kitchen and explained the situation, asked her to closing the large sliding doors to the lobby. I then returned to my room and watched from the window and she didn't close the doors or talk to the man! Needless to say, I arrived at the hospital the next day absolutely exhausted. This room should be flagged for it's deficiencies and offered at a discounted rate. (To be fair, I do realise that the young couple managing it are not responsible for the original design of the hotel).
