"No HOT water"

2.0

Stay away from this hotel. No hot water even after they said you had to give it a couple of minutes. We waited for a long time and only had a cold shower. We asked for another room and this room is just as horrible. The ‘supposedly’ hot water tab is trickling luke warm water so we’re back in square one. Apart from that experience, the host is friendly. He went all the way explaining how to save the electricity and care for the doonas on top of the bed. Sadly not caring enough to ensure the guests have sufficient hot water especially when you need to shower early in the morning.

"Holy moldy"

4.0

Do not let the pictures deceive you. Our room was covered in mold. We requested the mold be cleaned and they did bleach the majority of it which is why they received two stars. Breakfast was okay and the same each day. I would in the future spend a little more and stay somewhere mold free.

"Just what you need to enjoy all Manuel Antonio has to offer"

10.0

Due to the reviews, Hotel Divisimar wasn't our first choice, but our 4 night stay with them definitely proved otherwise. We had a great, clean and safe stay with everything we needed. Cleanliness can't be underrated when you are in the jungle but there were surprisingly few bugs - even around the premises. The AC worked extremely well and they had both hot and cold water (although if you go during February you likely will not need the hot water at all). The WiFi in the room worked great and the typical Costa Rican breakfast was a nice touch. My only complaint is of the two English channels provided on the television - one of them was Fox News which is unfortunate during this time when we need as many policies as possible to preserve the beauty/health of nature and combat climate change rather than ignore it. Regardless, the staff were always approachable and helpful. The location is fantastic. The bus that takes you to the beach and National Park and costs about 60 cents per person had a stop right next door. There are two super markets within walking distance. There are plenty of quality restaurants and nightlife within walking distance as well. This was a great plus for us. The pool and grounds had great upkeep and you were able to see many animals on the grounds themselves. We saw a variety of birds, butterflies and even heard monkeys from our room. If you are lucky you will see the Toucans or the Agouti on the grounds like we did. The owner was helpful in calling tourist companies when our shuttles were late. In looking at hotel options, know that everything seems "overpriced" and with the booming tourism industry in Costa Rica, that is just the way it is. #PuraVida While this is not a luxury all-inclusive resort, it is a great, convenient and safe choice if you are looking to enjoy all Manuel Antonio has to offer!

"A mistake! Horrible. Go elsewhere!"

4.0

Our first night was our last. No wifi for the kids, no hot water, very loud a/c unit, tiny old tv with fuzzy signal, not clean, and no staff anywhere to be seen to help with anything. Nothing good about this place from the bedding to the service. A mistake! Moved down to Hotel Jungle Beach and had a GREAT time for the rest of our stay.

"Unfriendly and run-down."

2.0

Warning. Stay somewhere else. We were here for 3 weeks this time, so we decided to try somewhere a little less expensive. What a mistake. Pretty much everything about this hotel is dilapidated, and the place feels down right depressing. Do not trust the photos, because our room did not look like that, nor did the pool. The room was simplistic which is fine with me, but the two beds were both hard as a rocks, the sheets were old and stained, and the pilllow was about as thick as my credit card, and the bathroom smelled bad. Towels were thin and scratchy. The TV is one of those old box units about 19". Toilet paper is dispensed out of a machine like at a truck stop gas station. Breakfast is a table with an old sheet over it and a few unappetizing breads and fruits covered in flies, serve yourself of course. Service is non-existent for anything. I choose this hotel over others in the same price range due to the location, thinking we would not need a car if we stayed here, and while it is true that it is well located in Manuel Antonio, it also faces directly at the road and suffers road noise from trucks and motorcycles all night long. After the first sleepless night I purchased a couple of new pillows in Quepos and went back determined to try again, but after two nights of not sleeping on the hard bed, and listening to the road all night, we left and found a better place for the same price the next day. There are plenty of smaller, and yes older, hotels that are nice, with lots of wildlife, and friendly staff, Hotel Divisamar is NOT one of them. No wildlife, no friendly staff, no sleep. I hate to give one star, but to give it two would not be fair. Lots of stairs to get to a run down room, with a hard bed, and lots of road noise. And, worst of all, VERY unfriendly staff, who are actually the owners. Oh, and it says "Casino"? That is hilarious too. I wish I had a photo of the room that might have been a tiny "casino" MANY years ago. There is in fact a very old sign above a small room that says "Casino", but it is obvious that it has been closed for 10+ years, with nothing in the dirty gutted room. Even the holes in the windows are left unrepaired. The whole building is run down and depressing, and the owners could care less. Thank goodness we did not pay upfront, because I can only image trying to get a refund from these people.
