Woodthorpe Hotel

The hotel is perfectly located on the edge of Heaton Park, which is where I was scheduled to complete the Memory Walk the following day. Sadly it was cancelled due to the terrorist attack. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay, in spite of the increased police presence. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was large, clean and tidy. The bed was extra large and comfortable. It was nice to have a settee and tea/ coffee making facilities. The hotel was dog friendly - at an additional charge. The hotel offers a little doggy pa game with a blanket and bowl included, which is a nice touch.

It wasn't so much that we didn't like this, but the fact the hotel is a busy pub/ restaurant during the day. After hours when everyone has gone home, it can feel quite creepy having to leave the room. Going downstairs to let the dog out to the toilet, it was dark and felt quite eerie. Perhaps that's just me being a wimp!! There are only a few rooms, and I'm not sure if we were the only people staying over that night. Don't let this deter you! It's still a lovely place to stay.

Lovely food in the pub downstairs. Gluten free food options. Very helpful and friendly staff, including bar staff, cleaner. Location was good for what we needed, walking distance to tram. Large car park. Easy access to room at desired time. Good price. Coffee and tea provided.

Bedrooms dated and need updating, some maintenence. Unable to open any windows...felt a bit 'trapped'. Other guests came in at 4.45am and were excessively noisy, shouting, angry, banging doors. Room appeared clean, however, there was a stain on the pillow and human nails in the bath tub.

The location was great, staff were very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. The pub was lovely, great food, a good atmosphere and great value for money.

Good location, plenty of parking space, lovely hotel with character. Super helpful staff.

Mattress on the sofa was very thin and you could feel frame underneath
