Shanklin Hotel

Rooms, swimming pool and also the breakfast was wonderful. We enjoyed so much and best part was beautiful view and also amazing staff who helped us. Also the evening music event was great!

If fresh fruit and vegetables and healthier buffet options could be provided for breakfast it would be ideal.

A nice, clean hotel close to the beach in Shanklin. Breakfast was not included in the price-you need to order and pay £10 for breakfast and £20 for an evening meal.

I took my swimming trunks as there was a swimming pool advertised, but you can only use the small pool when occupied, that is, whilst swimming lessons with young children are taking place. I felt a bit awkward sitting in the water with mothers looking down at me, so I stayed away and used the local beach to just dip my toes in the water instead. Swimming lessons usually take place from 3.30 pm until 6.30 pm in the week and at 8 am on Saturdays. Also, my room 305, had no view and was in the basement, so I only saw a concrete wall with the heads of people sitting and talking outside, but I had no view whatsoever. Some of the evening entertainment could have been better. There were different things laid on each evening, and I sat one evening to listen to the music on a disco night. I sat there perplexed as I could not think of more boring songs to play if I tried! The tourists just sat there motionless-I can certainly understand why, as no song was in any way catchy. Next to the dining hall is a bar-I never bought anything, but it was expensive. They sell small bottles of Isle of Wight beer for £5 each, go to the local Co-Op supermarket down the hill, where you can buy three bottles of the same stuff for a mere £9!

Well laid out and everything easily accessible, easy car parking and fantastic views

Could have done with more than one lift. Some places not cleaned, like the table used for bingo and music amplifier caked in dust, but the rooms were generally clean
