Lovely friendly atmosphere

the room where the continental breakfast was ,was cold average choice. cooked breakfast ok.

problems with hot water tap. had to move rooms. woken up by unruly guests one night at 3.30am went on for 2 hours,.

Location and the room was a great size

Breakfast service was very poor, Had to go through cupboards in the breakfast area to find orange juice, had to ask for serviette’s Had to pop into the kitchen to ask a member of staff to rectify the coffee machine

Staff did guarantee my room after a technical/scam (?) problem appearing to come from the 'Booking.com system.

I can see I'm going to be in a minority here, but this was one of the most dismal recent hotel experiences I have had recently. Arriving after a long journey at 9pm, reception had closed an hour previously; no staff, no bar, no pleasant public room in which to sit. The rooms are motel-style in a wing adjacent to the grand house depicted, and are quite small with small beds. Poor signage didn't help us find our accommodation. The place felt unwelcoming in the extreme.. The room for breakfast was cold and there was no coffee in the coffee machine and the cleaner was kind enough to find staff to see to the problem. The whole experience was as far removed from my idea of 'country hotel' as it was possible to get. Depressing and disappointing. This is the first negative review I have had to write on Booking.com in seven years.

Tired and poorly maintained interior, small bed in modern annexe of basic standard. Entirely unstaffed from 8pm. Would not book again.
