"Overpriced and a bit run down"

4.0

We stayed here at the beginning and end of our Amazon Jungle trip. We were directed here by our tour operator and was told it would cost 98,000 pesos. Upon arrival we were told the only room available cost 120,000 but they reluctantly only charged the original quoted price. Then upon the first checkout they tried to charge us 28,000 for minibar drinks that we didn't have. When we returned we were then charged 30,000 pesos for a plastic chair that broke when my husband sat on it. The second room we stayed in had a horrible stench coming from the drain in the bathroom. I am sure there are better options to stay whilst in Leticia.

"Met our needs and then some"

8.0

We stayed at Hotel Yurupary for one night in early February 2015. We were returning from a four day Amazon trip with Amazon Jungle Trips. Our room was large and clean. There was no hot water. The air conditioning was heavenly after the jungle heat. We spent the evening by the lovely pool but since it didn't seem quite clean we did not swim. We ordered sandwiches and French fries from the upstairs restaurant and were quite happy with them. Breakfast, which was included, was served buffet style in the open air upstairs restaurant. It was plentiful and offered a wide array of foods. Several of the staff do not speak English and we have little Spanish but it was not a problem. The location of the hotel is convenient. You can walk to the outdoor market, the waterfront and even over into Brazil! We would be happy to book another overnight at the Hotel Yurupary.

"Comfortable and convenient"

8.0

The hotel was clean and airy. Our room was one of the economical ones on the third level. Everything worked, TV and air conditioning, and there was a large window that opened to the street. The room was cleaned every day, and the staff were courteous. Breakfast was included and good. The hotel is perfectly located, close to restaurants, supermarkets, a laundry, and change bureaus. We had a very comfortable stay, and would recommend this hotel. We paid via credit card, and we're advised to pay the day before we left, as sometimes the phone line doesn't work. The phone line was working, luckily, and we had no trouble.

"Great location"

8.0

Stayed here after a horrendous 12 hours in a speedboat. What a relief. AC, big rooms, pool. Breakfast ok, location great, next to restaurants. Free drinking water in reception, tea and coffee. It was the rainy season, but the rooms were dry and rain-free.

"Not a nice experience"

2.0

Having stayed in many hotels in Colombia over the last five years (15 work trips) and in many different parts of Colombia (touristic and non-touristic), this was the most disappointing. Of course, I have stayed in worse hotels during my extensive travels in Colombia but those were in non-touristic areas and at a cost of about 20 dollars a night. I have also payed 20 dollars a night in Colombia and had a better hotel room than this one. Here are the negative points: 1. The sink still had hair in it from a previous occupant after he shaved. 2. The first room they gave us had no toilet seat. This is quite frequent in Colombia but not in a hotel of that price. They did give us a room with a toilet seat, however when we asked. 3. The cleaner put on the fridge but didn't close the door. Given that humidity in the Amazon is about 90%, we came back to a room with water all over the floor from condensation. We asked them to clean it, but they only did it after we asked twice. The cleaner hadn't a clue how to use a mop! 4. We stayed 2 nights. After the first night we went out in the morning. When we came back at 15:00 they still hadn't cleaned the room. They did eventually come and clean the room. 5. Breakfast was awful and actually we both got sick after that, although we cannot be sure t was because of the breakfast. Grey congealed scrambled egg that it didn't look like it was a good idea to eat. Dirty tables. 6. When we checked out, there was no working phone line so they couldn't take my credit card. We had enough in cash minus about 15 dollars and suggested they give us a reduction but they wouldn't. The woman at the reception was obviously too frightened to do that without authorization but refused to call the manager so we could talk with him/her. We didn't have time to go to the cash machine then back to the hotel as we had a flight to catch, but they didn't offer any solution, even though they refused ours. They just told us it was out of their hands. They also mentioned that the phone lines being down happened all the time - so this situation probably happened before. I have stayed in many hotels where they have a manual card reader from which they can make a print of the card and with a signature of the card holder the hotel is assured the money - they could have easily done this but the woman on the reception was clueless. In the end, a woman from a shop in the same building took us to the airport in her own car, via the cash machine and we payed her cash and so we also got no receipt. I would not stay there again.
