Casitas de Montaña Cabuya

The location was amazing. It is at the top of the hills with a spectacular view. The cabins were very nice and clean. It felt like were immersed in nature. The staff were so friendly, accommodating and helpful.

Casitas de Montaña Cabuya is tucked away in the mountain and has a nice authentic feeling of home. It is a family-run business and has a farm where they grow their own coffee and serve it in the dining area. We spoke with the host Jeison and his wife for many hours, and enjoyed sharing stories about life. There are beautiful handmade things for sale including stickers and local soaps. The room was nice and simple and clean, and the water pressure was good and warm. After being in a hot part of Costa Rica right beforehand, it was nice to use the blankets and be cozy in the bed. The dinner was yummy and satisfying and the breakfast was good as well. Great coffee!

This was not in their control, but it was incredibly windy at night and the gusts were very loud. We found out it's because the location is on the Continental Divide, and since the property is on a clearing with not so many trees, the winds there are extra strong!

Prachtig uitzicht

Wij vonden een schorpioen op het bed naast het hoofdkussen van mijn dochter ‘s avonds. Nu ben je daar a avonds moederziel alleen in de bush. Dus iemand halen kon niet. Ook kakkerlakken, spinnen en kakkerlak - eierenpop gevonden en verwijderd. Met de schorpioen was de maat vol. We belden - kregen geen gehoor. Toen appen - ‘yes, it is scorpion season’ was het antwoord. Geen hulp, niks. We hebben ‘s avonds om 22:00u onze spullen eerst allemaal uitgeklopt, mij dochter hield de inmiddels actieve schorpioen in de gaten die aan t rennen was door t hokje wat deze kamer was , met z’n staart omhoog in de lucht, m’n zoon zocht snel voordat de nacht echt inviel gauw een nieuw hotel nog en we zijn gaan rijden door de bergen, een compleet onverlicht onverhard pad, steile bergwegen, gaten en keien op de weg - groot licht, stapvoets. Na een half uur waren we terug in het dorp waar iemand zo goed was om nog de receptie te bemannen en ons een kamer te geven. Geen vraag vanuit de owner hoe het met ons ging of dat we ons redden. Bizar - zo’n slechte zorg voor je gasten en zo’n slechte hygiëne midden in de bush dat je ons daar met een schorpioen op de kamer laat zitten. Klacht volgt want ook het contact daarna was zeer onprettig.
