The Greyhound Hotel

May 2026 Room 103. Good size. £40 per night. The room was freshly painted and clean with a new bed and nice bathroom , reception were very friendly too. And there’s a pub right next door if needed.

Other clients at this hotel are longer term living arrangements and were a bit noisy, so earplugs are advisable and I would not pay more than £40 for this currently as other hotels are not that much more expensive.

The radiators wasn't on the room was cold there was dust on the sides in the bathroom. Their was a silver fish on the wooden bath panel moving which indicates not cleaned correctly

I stayed at this hotel with my wife. We had travelled from Plymouth. I had no hesitation in booking direct with the hotel as I had stayed there sometime previously with my daughter and a couple of times on my own. At that time it was a very nice, thriving hotel. However, this time I have never been so embarrassed in front of my wife – when I booked, I had been told the restaurant and bar were being refurbished but continental breakfast could be supplied. That was an outright lie. There was no sign of any refurbishment going on in those areas. When we went down for breakfast, there was only myself and my wife in the 'breakfast room'. We found some bread, a few cereals and some fruit juice. The only 'plates' available were cardboard bowls! When we asked for some proper bowls the staff member turned up with a couple of mismatched bowls, saying that's all she could find. The next person to come into the room – wearing pajamas and dressing gown – said good morning, are you homeless too! It would appear the hotel is now used by local authority to house the homeless. I really cannot recommend this place as a hotel for paying guests
