Stained bed fixtures, tired, linen tatty, noisy, odour from cooking (fryers) in ground floor areas, claims to not be vat registered although highly likely to be beyond threshold

Staff were very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable, could not do enough for us

It’s a vintage pub so some of the fixtures are old school but it was all part of the charm

Great location for the Cleveland Way. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room with good bathroom and tea, coffee etc. Food available on site and the breakfast was worth the extra, good service and exceeded expectations. A little dated but clean and comfortable and a good location.

I stayed one night and the property was comfortable and clean. The bed was really comfy and the room spacious. The bathroom was huge. Staff extremely welcoming and helpful. Menu for dinner didn't offer much for vegetarian although the manager did offer to cook me a veg Indian meal with any ingredients he had which was extremely kind of him.

The hot water for the shower took ages to heat up. Very quiet and more staff than customers so not much atmosphere although it was Monday night so probably better mid-week!

My partner and I on a whim decided to go on a little road trip, we needed somewhere to stay on the Sunday night, and happened on this little gem quite late on Saturday night. It suited our needs perfectly and we have saved this as a favourite for future.

Internet and phone signal was not good, but it is quite rural so as expected really.

The room looked comfortable and clean. The breakfast chef was very helpful, letting me into my room thr following morning.

No answer on either of the "out of hours" phone posted on the window outside, nor on their regular phone number. In an emergency "lost key" situation, there is nobody contactable on site to let you in. The only solution was to taxi to Middlesborough ro find a hotel who DO have night staff, and make a last minute reservation. Unfortunately, there is another hotel with the same name 15 minutes down the road. If you're attending a large event (such as a wedding) in the area, and someone books the same room number in the other "Fox and Hounds", be extra vigilant not to lose your key while doing michael jackson impressions on the dancefloor, only to have it returned to the wrong person.
