Great Trethew Manor Hotel & Restaurant

Self catering lodges were bright, airy and newly refinished. Plenty of space and a comfortable stay.

The water pressure in the lodges was poor.

The location was an excellent base from which to attend a wedding locally. The lodge was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was superb. A great selection for the continental and cooked options.

Sadly, the water pressure in the showers was low and disrupted by other water use in the lodge. Also there was no soap provided in the bathroom/ensuite shower. This would have been a welcome addition.

The location

No wifi (very poor) advertised as having wifi. Complimentary coffee sachets empty Dirty sofa Something vile stuck to kitchen window No tea towels, dish cloth or oven gloves just a used scourer No breakfast available on the sunday as nobody there to cook Needs updating No smoke alarms No hairdryer as advertised Over priced considering these issues. When I asked about wifi I was told that nothing can be done as the router is in cottage 3 and we were number 1. I always check that there is wifi in the accomadation so that my children can reach me in an emergency as phone signal is not great. I was told I can go to the hotel and use wifi there. However we were in the cottage NOT the hotel.

Wow! We always self cater when we go away so have experienced many properties over the years and have generally been pretty lucky. However I feel we really lucked out this time - we stayed in one of the lodges and ours was one of the newest ones and looked like we were the first visitors as it was so stunning. Just a few of the great points about the property and surroundings: - very well equipped kitchen including dishwasher and washing machine and even washing liquid, dishwashing tablets, etc - The beds were better than ours at home and so comfortable - Plug sockets both sides of the bed! - Beautiful balcony and table and chairs outside with fabulous surroundings including visiting peacocks - Tv with streaming services - Proper bath mats as opposed to the towels you usually get in hotels! - Decent sized mugs and cereal bowls - Loads of storage space - easy access to the hotel including the bar and restaurant - friendly staff and owner who we chatted to a couple of times

Really minor things but the water pressure is a little weak so shower could be better and there was no caddy or shelf in the shower for bottles etc…- again such minor points!

Oak Lodge was just like a home from home. Has to be one of the best lodges we’ve stayed in. Very spacious, with comfy beds. And the extra bathroom was very handy as you don’t normally get that with a 2 bedroom property.

If we had to be picky, the driveway entrance in and out of the park could do with some attention as there are some major potholes
