HOTEL OAKHAM is a real sh*thole. Room has no A/C (it’s 30’C), housekeeping brought 2 fans trying to cool the room (2nd floor, under the roof), they are super noisy/loud, TV has no remote control and can’t be operated without, room has no hairdryer, no clothes hangers. It’s a JOKE. Worst hotel experience in the UK for past 15 years

The hotel is centrally located. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The self check-in procedure was easy to operate, though personally I prefer a staffed reception desk. All in all, good value for money.

I would have appreciated a fridge in my room, especially on what was the hottest day of the year so far. That is the only omission that I would criticise. Not difficult to put right either.

Travelling alone? Choose another hotel. Not Secure. Another resident used their room key and got into my room-unsafe. No refund My room was not secure. I was awoken at 12.30am by someone accessing my room using their room card (their room was next door to mine). As a woman alone this ruined my nights sleep as I felt unsafe. No refund, despite my calling the Host at the time. They referred me to Booking.com who got not response from Oakham Hotel which would have facilitated a refund. Shame as staff and hotel are nice.
