Aashreya Suites Tiruvannamalai

Er zijn heel verschillende kamers in dit hotel. Alleen de executive kamers met balkon zijn echt goed en voldoen aan Europese standaards. Goed opletten wat je boekt dus! Personeel heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam, zwembad mooi en fijn, dakterras met uitzicht op Arunachala echt prachtig. En ook fijn: heel rustig gelegen. Thiruvannamalai is luidruchtig en druk, dit is heerlijk.

Het ontbijt en vooral de ontbijtzaal vielen tegen. Echt niet schoon! Ook de schoonmaak in de rest van het hotel, inclusief de kamers, kan echt beter. En: wij hadden dus geboekt via Booking, betaling ter plaatse, maar de dag vantevoren moest er toch geld overgemaakt worden, wat niet lukte, waarna het heel spannend werd met de reservering (in drukke vakantietijd). Gelukkig is dat goedgekomen, maar de info op Booking klopt dus gewoon niet altijd en dat gaf veel stress!

Breakfast could have been improved

The rooms were exceptionally clean, spacious, and comfortable. I especially appreciated the direct access to the terrace near my room—it offered beautiful morning mountain views and was perfect for quiet meditation. The private balcony was another highlight. The furnishings were very practical, with ample counter space and room for luggage, and the air-conditioning worked flawlessly throughout the stay. The staff were consistently friendly and responsive, the breakfast spread was good, and the hotel had a dedicated car park. I also noticed the availability of a fast EV charging station, which is a thoughtful addition and likely very convenient for electric vehicle owners.

This is not a major concern, but I wanted to share a few observations for consideration. During breakfast rush hours, seating in the restaurant felt a bit limited. While the staff member attending to guests was excellent, it was understandably difficult for one person to keep up when the restaurant was full, leading to slower refills at times. The placement of fans/air-conditioning also seemed less optimal when the space was fully occupied. Separately, when I asked the reception staff about “Satya’s Guest House” (referring to Satya’s Café), they mentioned they were unaware and did not explore the request further. Given that Thiru is a small place where most people know one another, I would have appreciated a bit more probing, which may have helped guide me. I did briefly wonder if staff were advised not to comment on nearby establishments, but based on their overall warmth and friendliness, I am comfortable assuming this was not the case.

I requested a late checkout, but the front office staff refused. I then waited on the reception couch for almost two hours. During that time, housekeeping had not started, and there were no new check-ins. I was surprised by the refusal under these circumstances.

Nos gustó mucho aunque estuvimos poco. Llegamos a la madrugada y nos ayudaron con todo lo necesario. El desayuno excelente.

Der Rezeptionist am Tag war unfreundlich und hat mir nicht das Gefühl gegeben, willkommen zu sein
