Big rooms, good beds,..

Staff was very reactive. We had to ask multiple times for new towels/water. Room doesn't get cleaned if you don't ask. I would expect more from the staff at this pricepoint. Food was oke but we ended up eating lunch en diner outside of the hotel as it was not that great in the hotel.

Clean, comfy beds, large rooms,..

We had to ask multiple times for clean drinking water, to get towels, it took very long to get a coffee in the morning. If you send something to them via WhatsApp we didn't get an answer. The hotel isn't bad but we expected way more for the high price of the hotel.

Tolle Anlage, sehr schön bepflanzt. Super Aussicht vom Zimmer aus. Geschmackvoll eingerichtet und Bett sehr komfortabel. Regendusche! Super vielfältiges Frühstücksbuffet mit super Aussicht. Pool konnte ich leider wegen Dauerregen nicht benutzen.

The staff are really friendly and attentive. The pool and all the landscaping are taken care of and the food at the restaurant is good.

The rooms are large but quite basic.

Our room was clean and comfortable, with a terrace in front where we could sit and play cards. Nice views of surrounding hills and trees. Felt like we were in the middle of nature.

This was the most expensive place we stayed at in Sri Lanka and it was marketed as a small luxury hotel. However, it is not a hotel so much as a collection of rooms set amongst a series of narrow gardens and walkways, which are pleasant during the day but at night can be tricky to navigate with limited lighting. The pool and the area around it is much smaller than the photos would suggest, with limited places to sit. The restaurant area is fully open to the outside (essentially a wooden gazebo), and so you’re exposed to all weather conditions. On our first evening, we ate in the restaurant and it was so cold and damp we had to ask for blankets (they weren’t proactively offered). The lighting was dim, and we were the only diners there so the vibe was strange - there was no music playing, and the staff seemed eager for us to finish eating so they could close up. The food was expensive and very average. There were a lot of staff, all men, just hanging around everywhere seemingly with little work. There was nothing to do here in the evening other than go to our room; as described it’s in an isolated location and requires a car or tuktuk to get into the town. On our second night we returned from dinner in town and all the lights were off, the restaurant was closed, and all of the numerous staff had disappeared. Something about the atmosphere was off; I didn’t feel we were particularly welcomed. Absolutely not worth the price - we would have been better off staying closer to Ella, somewhere with more life.
