Sunlight Hotel Coron

The staff were nice and welcoming, felt like they were trying hard to make the experience good but it was just very expensive and not a quality of experience you expect for the price tag. The reason we booked this hotel was because we wanted a nice hotel close to the port as we had an early ferry the next morning so this location was perfect for that. In hindsight it would've been better getting a tricycle from the main town as we would've saved a lot of money!

The food in the restaurant was pretty bad... tiny portions for the price and no where near as much flavour as you'd expect from a street stall for less than half the price. Drinks were expensive (we popped next door to the more expensive hotel and drinks were cheaper, it was 20 pesos cheaper for a beer and as a sidenote I noticed the price of a negroni next door was 360 and here it was over 700!) The mattress was very hard. There was no facility to fill up our water bottles whenever we wanted (the staff did fill our bottles but every other place we've been in the Philippines has a water tank where this is easily accessible). I guess we were just expecting better for the high price and looking forward to a nice experience and this is not at all what we got...

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Super responsive and nothing was too much trouble. The pool area and view were nice.

We booked a “deluxe twin” and it was anything but deluxe. The room was tiny, with nowhere to open our suitcases up. The window faced a brick wall. The floor boards were loose and pinched your skin if you walked on the cracks. The shower was either freezing cold, or burning hot and nothing inbetween. The beds were rock hard- it was like sleeping on a wooden board all night. Terribly uncomfortable. You have to drive through a pretty dirty part of town to get to the hotel, and it’s too far to walk from the town centre/ restaurants etc. The included buffet breakfast wasn’t buffet at all. We had to leave early morning and expected we could grab something quick and go, but we were advised there was no buffet and it was A La carte. We didn’t have time to wait around for something to be cooked, so we missed out. This hotel was the most expensive we stayed in in the Philippines and by far the most disappointing.

Extremely friendly and attentive staff made the stay all the more pleasurable. Only 5 minutes from the town centre on a trike but far enough to be relaxing. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic location. This place is right at the edge, of the main strip, which is actually ideal because coron can be chaotic! its very easy to get right into the town centre for a meal. Drinks were cheap and the views are amazing. Staff were super friendly and the breakfast was awesome. Gym is very basic, but good enough. The views are amazing, gorgeous sunset and cheap happy hour cocktails by the pool

The ONLY drawback of this hotel was the mattresses were super firm, not a deal breaker but annoying. If they upgraded those it would be perfect
