"Great experience in a beautiful ancient city Ganca"

10.0

We stayed with my partner in Ganca hotel for a weekend . I would suggest it to anyone travelling to Ganca as you can experience Azeri culture in a great hotel located in a city centre. Prices were very reasonable. Rooms are very clean and the most important for me personally bed was very comfortable. Location is perfect if you are going to do some sightseeing.

"Terrible and cheating - Back in the USSR"

2.0

We stayed one night in Ganja (Ganca) at Ganja Hotel located in the centre of town, right at the central square in Ganja with the monument for Haydar Aliyev. The hotel has most likely not been refurbished since the Soviet times. It offers a true USSR experience – no service, no comfort, no friendliness. Just the basics. If this is what you look for, book a room. Otherwise, do not stay at this hotel. The front desk staff do not understand or speak English. Not a single word. On TripAdvisor there was so far not a picture of the hotel, although from the outside, it looks impressive. We have provided the (so far) only picture of the exterior. We booked the room via Booking.com. Upon arrival, we were offered a rate of 60 Manat including breakfast. We referred to our booking via Booking.com and the rate went up to 70 Manat. The hotel did not accept credit cards – cash only. They have an ATM in the lobby for exactly this purpose. We requested a receipt for our payment, but could not get one. It appeared as if the money went straight into the pocket of the only front desk employee. A few days later, Booking.com contacted us and asked us to confirm that we actually stayed at the hotel. The hotel had reported us as “no shows”, probably to avoid paying commission to Booking.com for our booking. It is a spooky hotel and it seems peculiar that, in a country where credit card payment is widely accepted, a hotel accepts cash only. Avoid problems, stay away. It is not recommended to stay here, but take a look inside the lobby and the restaurant and get a touch of “Back in the USSR” feeling.

"No English"

4.0

Our check in takes half an our, because nobody speak english. Also we prepaid the room for two night, they want to be paid in the spot (we have voucher in english). The next day another recepcionist, also the same. Ganja roads are very problematic, there is very much one way road, not so easy to get there. The room was big and tidy, but in the bathroom there is no door on the cabin and everywhere was water.

"A well located, old hotel."

6.0

The hotel is ideally placed off the main square. That said, the centre of Ganja is not that big! It. is housed in an old Soviet style building. The rooms have been updated of course. They are a good size and basic. Generally clean although the big carpet in the centre of the room had seen better days cleaning wise. On one level the architecture is interesting and the building has an air of grandeur. Corridors are gloomy though. Wifi is free but sparodic. A buffet breakfast is provided. There is a nice restaurant a few doors down called Zlotovny, I think. Reasonably priced, good home cooking served until 11pm. Limited English spoken in both.
