The Old Kings Head

The room itself was cosy, the bed comfortable and the shower was lovely. The fact you could park right outside the room was brilliant. The area located was nice and quiet.

Unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positives with our stay. The room was very, very stuffy despite having windows open and an electric fan. The duvet provided was an extreme thickness that it added to the uncomfortable sleep endured. Furthermore the price paid for what we actually got was a huge let down, if I was to price the night up, I'd have knocked just under £30 off what I paid. It definitely should not have been anymore than £52 a night. The car park was full, and when we first arrived had to park down the street until a space became available. At roughly midnight we were awoken by very loud noises from outside the courtyard and at first we assumed it was drunkards but soon enough discovered it was "Mr Roberts" and his colleagues who work in the kitchen/bar (which apparently shuts at 9pm) they were very loud, screaming and clattering things. Another issue was the tracing paper toilet tissue, which was painful to use as well as the fact the toiletries had less than 10% of liquids in them. The coffee machine took ages to produce a single espresso which was not good, and made a very loud noise. Overall I would not stay here again, which is a shame.

Rooms were well appointed and away from any noise of the pub.

Parking was a little tough sometimes.

A really lovely with excellent history. Lovely rooms, quality shone through at every stage.

Our 1st stay at Old Kings Head and what a pleasant surprise. A 2 night stay including an evening function with full catering service. Impressive surroundings and attentive, polite staff. Great bar and dining areas, excellent breakfast / choice. Rooms are large and comfortable (upgraded room option taken) and quiet. Plenty of off street parking. The whole place is immaculate with a very nice outdoor terrace. Will have no hesitation in returning here again.

I had no complaints during our stay although breakfast took a little time to be served to us on one day. It was delivered with an apology.

Easy Location and good size

Very uncomfortable bed mattress and smelt like a bar.
