Aelius Hotel and Spa

The staff were lovely and very helpful. We had a bit of a mix-up and they were more than accommodating to help us resolve the issue and went above and beyond to make our stay great. THANK YOU OLGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are amazing! You saved our rating! The Sensus section was brilliant, loved the way it all worked, and the swim-up rooms are really nice. The all-inclusive area, limited options for food, but ok! If you're going - make sure you read the print carefully and stay there... I would not stay in the other sections. This section is more indicative of the pictures and I think it may be on a different site/page to the Aelius hotel. Great parking if you're driving and they have a good little spa with pool and good therapists.

A clearer description of the room images shown and the room categories on Bookings.com. The pictures are all of different room categories but all say Standard room... It can be very confusing. The main images on bookings.com are all of the new section and the whole place doesn't look like this so be mindful of that! If we knew this, things would have been very different! The decor is a bit confusing as well and the dining area reminds me a little of a holiday camp. The restaurant staff didn't look happy to be there - which was sad because other staff were warm, professional, and helpful.

We got a lovely room with a pool and some complimentary drink & snacks (that we were not expecting). The weather was terrible that weekend but the pool was really nice.

The buffet dinner (Asian theme night) was uninspiring. We didn’t enjoy it. The breakfast is pretty good - lots of options and it looks like there’ll be something for everyone. The parking “lot” is outside the property in a open area with no shade or security. The wifi was NOT good - it could barely keep up with the hotel guest volume.

Overall, a decent place for two nights. For us, this was the last stay of our trip, we wanted something close to the Heraklion airport, which it was. We got upgraded to one of the Sensus Experience jacuzzi rooms, which was a fun surprise, especially because the weather was a little rainy and cold the first night we arrived (the water temparature was way too hot for us the next evening, after a hot day). My partner really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, I found it good enough :) (it's a pity that hotels cannot offer the selection of fresh produce (and orange juice) that is available in restaurants all around Crete, but I suppose that's what one gets with buffets). It was great that parking wasn't an issue.

The room was great size but the space was not too well planned. For two people there wasn't enough space to put our luggages (other than floor), hang towels, bath robes etc. In general, everything was fine. It wasn't a scenic or a luxury place (which is also not what we paid for). I couldn't imagine staying there without a car (which provides an opportunity to escape to the nature and fun little restaurants in the villages), but that's also the matter of preference.

Very good breakfast, even better diner. The latter, varied and different every day. Good facilities and very kind staff! Off-season quality/price is great!

Gym is a bit lacking. Even the most secluded room is still a tad bit noisy. Also, it is a resort-style hotel. Consider that you will be treated kindly, but still as a customer.

We booked a room as a couple but the room only provided two single beds pushed together. They kept moving apart which became quite irritating during our stay.

Staff was more than friendly and helpful. Spa personnel like angels. Tasty and rich breakfast and dinner.

convenient location to reach Heraklion airport : cs 1/4 hr drive only ( contrary to 2+ hrs drive from hotel we were staying). facility clean ; friendly staff ; great selection of food to choose from for breakfast.

it’s size : we left earlier from booked hotel and stayed here instead for one night in order to avoid long drive ( with potential travel hiccups ). my wife and I aren’t really into larger scale hotels with the large crowd resulting.
