Le Pont de L'Ouysse

De omgeving is prachtig. Eten heerlijk.

Kamers waren wat gedateerd, ondanks upgrade badkamers en toilet.

Lovely setting, comfortable room, friendly staff, superb restaurant and relaxing pool area.

This was just a lovely place to stay. It is on a sizeable piece of land with very nice gardens intermingled with cushioned seating on little terraces. There was a large terrace just outside the entrance and breakfast room under large leafy trees with many tables. I expect people can eat out there in the summer. In mid-May it was just a little too cool in the mornings to want to sit out there. Anyway, the tree roses, flowers, pruned shrubs, all are very well taken care of. Can you tell we enjoy gardens! It is a bit of a walk to the pool and spa, but we didn't mind. Too cool for the pool, but the spa was lovely. The cliffs nearby are very picturesque with a castle at the top. You can walk up some gravel roads to the castle, but must stop at the wall around it as it is privately owned. It is a lovely wooded walk. Breakfast was very well done. Lots of choices. Rooms were decorated in what I would call a French country style. I liked it. Our bathroom was spacious and must have recently been renovated. It was modern and up to the minute in style. Concierge was very helpful and spoke fluent English. We stayed 5 nights and found Le Pont de L'Ouysse very relaxing.

We did not eat at the restaurant. We are not people who spend beaucoup money on food and wine. We ate dinner elsewhere. There are a few restaurants in LaCave, but apparently none of them were open for the season yet, so we can't evaluate them. We found very adequate places before we came home from our daily outings. Being American, we weren't crazy about restaurants not opening until 7 or 7:30pm, but we still found enough places to eat before that hour. Our room size was ok, but there was a lot of furniture (tho we do like the cushioned chair!). A little larger room would have been nice.

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. The setting of the hotel and the outside dining terrace was very good. The dinner was good and the bed was comfy. The shower was very powerful and roomy. Breakfast was good.

Our room had everything we needed but was quite small.

Don’t miss dinner in the restaurant. It was sublime. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. The staff goes out of their way to assist. The setting,especially the outdoor seating areas were perfect.
