Clifty Inn

The location is remote, which is great. Nice and quiet with lots of hiking trails.

Room smelled really musty, and it was warm. Turned on the AC only to find that smelled even worse. Luckly I was able to open the windows for some fresh air.

Beautiful location. Nice comfortable rooms and friendly staff.

Too much chlorine in the pool area

We loved how well it was cared for and all of the great signs telling the history of the inn and area around it. Plus the signs within the park to get to various places.

The one thing I’d like to mention is our room had a lot of ladybugs (dead and alive) on the floor and on the walls. While we are nature lovers and understand that this can’t be prevented, perhaps do a quick vacuum of rooms where they come in during the season when they come in or post a sign that says “if there are too many ladybugs, please call the front desk and we’ll send someone to vacuum your carpet.” I’m sure this is nitpicking but I just wanted to share my thoughts.

We needed grab bars in shower

We had reservations for Easter Brunch at 1:00. We had to wait in line at the service desk for about 15 minutes to pre-pay. ( The women at the counter were also tasked with answering phones.) Our hostess seated us in the “dining room “ and told us that unfortunately the buffet was in a different room. We would have to make multiple trips to another room and carry our plates back to our seats. The tables in the “buffet room “ were beautifully decorated with table cloths, stemware and decanters of tea and lemonade. Our table had nothing. It was disappointing. We all paid the same price and it wasn’t cheap but the other room was much nicer. The food was ok but the desserts were lacking. I would not recommend for Easter Brunch.

Close to hiking and enjoyed the pool area

Cleanliness. Strong smell of mold and saw black mold in the bathroom

Location was great with beautiful views! The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The staff for the restaurant was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious! The Inn was very clean and presentable.

1.) No elevator to 2nd floors. 2.) The Thermostats in the rooms are very much outdated and didn't seem to have control of the HVAC system. Plus, the fan was very loud. 3.) The Indoor pool is nice but not heated. Not enough chairs to accommodate those not in the pool or spa. Finally, the pool room is definitely showing its age with paint peeling and other noticeable defects. Rooms definitely needs to be upgraded and add a heater to the pool. 4.) Just being picky now but would have been nice to have the south gate open to make access to downtown Madison more accessible.

Sunday breakfast buffet was delicious. Hot and waitstaff was very friendly and informative.

Friday night buffet wasn't good. Veggies were overcooked, chicken was very dry.
