Beautiful small hotel, very tastefully decorated. Extremely comfortable bed and beautiful rooms. All well kept, clean and comfortable. The staff is exceptionally nice and helpful- it’s a beautiful little paradise in bustling Zanzibar

The food is good but very expensive (prices like in Munich) and the portions aren’t huge in case you are hungry. The drinks are also very expensive with 5USD for a cup of coffee. Nevertheless around the hotel are many local restaurants with very good food and reasonable pricing

Misleading description, my friends and I arrived after hours of travelling, the Villa in the middle of no where, there isn't really a proper road leading to the villa to a rocky dirt road, with broken, abandoned shacks surrounding the villa so if you want to take a casual walk? I wouldn't. The beach is hardly swimmable with sea weed everywhere. The air conditioning in my room did not work, imagine arriving to 90 degree weather, exhausted from traveling and then boom! no air conditioning in your room. We booked weeks before, where was the quality check? Why wasn't the room prepared before and this issue noticed and my room changed? Also we requested 1 queen 1 twin as the option given on booking and it was "confirmed" only to arrive to 1 queen bed my other friend's room needed to be changed so we waited for that too. The pool water was cloudy with green moss growing out of the filter/skimmer, clearly showing it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The menu at the restaurant is limited and expensive and extremely slow, it took 3hrs to complete our meal the first night , no exaggeration. We were scheduled to be there 5 days and was so disappointed and upset we changed our flights and left after 2 days and now currently battling with them to get a partial refund which given our experience is the least they can do. Do yourselves a favor and book somewhere else, I have traveled to almost a hundred countries, I work in consulting for hotels and airlines I know quality, and trust me when I say this place a pig with lipstick on. I'm not sure how they managed to have the ratings they do,whether they are either fake, done by friends or most are easily impressed OR maybe my standards are too high either way...BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Villa Unaweza is a dream place, where you can relax and there is everything you need - great food, coctails, cold shower, pool, beach few steps away. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, always clean. People working there are friendly with the smile on their face. The owners also made us feel at home. It was my mother birthday and thank you to all for making it so special. Asante sana and see you soon again.

The hotel is new and beautiful, the food is excellent and the staff are very kind, we really enjoyed our holiday here

Relaxing place with great pool area and nice restaurant. Tasty breakfasts.

Loved the breakfasts, the decor and the proximity to the beach. Staff were all super friendly and helpful and Sylwia's yoga classes were excellent!

That the rooms are so open plan. Would have preferred a door on the toilet but that was the only minor issue!

Location is great. Its located by the best part of the beach. It’s not located ON the beach but its only a one min walk away. The bed was comfy and everything very clean. Friendly staff.

Aircon didn’t work as expected. Even though electricity cuts are common across zanzibar, they could have managed the generator better as we heard some other hotels did. WiFi was poor of the same reason but that didn’t matter as much. Air con is something we expected to work better when it’s so hot outside. The breakfast was varying quality. Some days the fruit was missing and even though there are fruit stalls 5 min walk away they didn’t bother to go buy more. Other times other items were missing and there was a lack of flexibility from the staff to try to solve the problems even though more guests raised the issues.

Very clean, spacious rooms with a generous bathroom and timeless interior design. Nice view from the balcony. Super quiet and peaceful environment for relaxation. Everyone at Villa Unaweza is very friendly and the whole place feels like a home away from home. Breakfast was delicious with a wide selection available. Matemwe beach is literally a minute walking distance. There's free yoga classes four times per week, which are professional, and if there's no classes you can still take a yoga mat and practice on your own whenever you want. This place is a gem, I can definitely recommend staying there.

The village of Matemwe is very quiet, so this place is not for people who seek to party a lot. Small thing I would suggest would be to offer water dispensers for guests as currently drinking water has to be bought per bottle.

POOL AREA WAS AMAZING. VERY FRIENDLY PEOPLE WORKING THERE. THE HOTEL WAS CLEAN AND BREAKFAST NICE. THE OCEAN IS SO NEAR AND THE BEACH IS AMAZING. YOU COULD DO YOGA AND PLAY VOLLEYBALL IF YOU FEEL SO. 10/10. LITTLE OASIS IN MATEMWE
