"Comfy stay near city center and beach"

8.0

Location was very good - you just have to go down the hill to reach city center and the beach. Room was very spacious and cozy, also there was windows shutters which was amazing during hot n sunny days (and nights:) ). And there was very cute terrace with beautiful ocean view!

The staff didnt bother to speak in english, actually they seem very tired doing nothing (coz there was only us at this hotel)

"Overpriced, poorly managed. Rent an upper terrace room or stay somewhere else."

3.0

The view feom the upper balcony was great. I think the other rooms were much nicer than the lower level one were I stayed. The cousin of the owner collected me from the airport (extra fee), but she was very nice.

I arrived at midnight, and was told that someone would check me in in the morning. There were no keys for my habitación, or towels. In the morning, the lady said she would get me towels and the keys ‘ahora’ in 20 minutes. 2 hours later when i went looking for her, she told me that the last guest had left with the keys- so there were no keys (why not tell me that from the beginning?) Also the bomba for the water was on ALL NIGHT the first night, 1am-6am. So i couldn’t sleep. It is up a steep hill and steep stairs- that’s ok - it was in the description. There was no drinking water. I know in Mexico that you have to buy water, but in an eco town like Mazunte- you would assume that a hotel has some garrafons where you can refill your water bottle. Here there were none- and when I asked why, the manager said ‘everyone of our guests goes and buys their own garrafon’ This is a giant waste of plastic and also inconvenient to people who don’t have a car- to carry a garrafon up the dusty steep hill. The downstairs room where I stayed had a giant smelly sewer pipe next to the door, so my room stank. And the ‘private balcony ’ was full of the laundry from the hotel drying in the sun. As a solo female traveler, i didn’t feel particularly safe that my room entrance was right on the main stairs and that I had no keys to lock my room and keep my things safe.

"Beyond our wildest imaginings, this hotel delivered a memorable experience."

9.0

Hit it lucky. This place is not for everyone, but for us it was incredible. Why? Because we wanted a quiet place to stay a step away from the action. Yes there are barking dogs, roosters in the morning, maybe even a lizard at the window. Not only did this site provide a beautiful view, but the access into the town was perfect, a few paces up the hill, and a little out of breath, but the view and the location were stunning. (bring a flash light, its that simple)At our first arrival our room was billowing with heat, but we turned on the fan and relaxed, we were ok. The morning came and we slide down the hill for a breakfast in town, which was satisfactory, but its a pretty ecliptic place of hippies, and people going to the beach. That evening we met our host Adriena, and that is when our experienced changed! Adriena and her young helper provided for us every morning with breakfast. We were the only guests using the service, and sat atop the boutique hotel and observed the landscape, the ocean and could hear the roar of the waves. That night, we decided to have dinner at the Quinto Sol, after a walkabout the town. Dinner was incredible as we had our evening to ourselves, the view, the dim lighting, to say it was romantic was an understatement. Each day we ventured to another secluded beach, away from the Zipolites, and the Playa amor's and each evening we would return to dinner. We were able to select what was going to be on the menu earlier. We fell in love with Adriena, her conversation, her care to look after us and an acknowledgement of our needs as guests. Like i said this hotel is not for everyone, but for us, it was not just a little dream, but reality that we will always fondly remember. I am sure if you email the hotel they can provide you with any questions that you might have so that you might also have an outstanding experience. Finally for the money we saved by being catered for at the hotel, we spent in Mexico City on our return home.

"Nice place, but not so great getting there."

7.0

Nice views. Staff was friendly.

Step hill and stairs to get to the hotel, even is a short walk, is better not to use flipflops. There was not toilet seat. No ilumination in the path to get there. Internet was really unstable, most of the time was not working or was at a low speed.

"Nice place to stay. Good facilities and secure."

It’s a lovely setting with a great roof terrace. Fridge is great to cool water. Shower is nice.

They are still doing construction which meant a bit of noise earlier in the morning. The rooms aren’t turned or bins emptied or fresh towels. But at the same time that makes the room feel More secure perhaps a door handle notice to request these would help.
