Kula Maya Boutique Hotel and Spa

This is absolutely the best and most beautiful place to stay in San Marcos. The vibe is very different from the rest of the town, but personally I was grateful for that. It's a bit pricey of course, but if you're looking for a quiet and beautiful place to spend a day by the pool and enjoy delicious food, this is absolutely the place to go. The staff are lovely, And if you want to go out in San Marcos it's just steps away. Highly recommend! The only thing I feel compelled to add is that the restaurant next door plays music until 10:00 p.m. every night and it definitely feels like it's in your room lol. Made no difference to me because I can fall asleep anywhere, but definitely something to consider if that would be hard for you.

The views are beatiful, the room comfortable and nice but what really surpriced us were the charges when paying by crrdit card. In the restaurant they wanted to charge us 6.5% above the price for paying by CC. The guatrmalan law prohibits that so when we said that they took it off as an exception. And then the same at te reception when charging us for the parking.but this time they wanted to charge 18% above and it was just parking. I think that they are acustummed to charge that as mayority of the guests are foreigners and nobody tells them anything. But that is not right as per the guatemalan law it is prohibited to do that. So that is what really changed our opinion of the hotel as location and hotel really nice but this experience when paying was really not correct.

Spectacular view, location and restaurant. Little privacy if you are choosing the dome and a little expensive, but great spot to live the San Marcos experience

Directly next door to a bar that plays very loud music until 10 pm. The room is uninhabitable until after 10pm. Nice staff and nice dining facilities, but not recommended.

The hotel is super clean and chic, I may say. The food is superb. The view is unmatched. The pool and jacuzzi very clean. A romantic stay!

The bar next door hosted karaoke night until 10pm. It was uncomfortable!

The pool should be heated, it was too cold to enjoy, the Jacuzzi by the pool should be available at no extra cost throughout the day and evening, and at night the Domo rooms should have the option of portable heaters, it was freezing.

Kula Maya is definitely the highlight of San Marcos, having the most excellent views and a friendly staff. The town is very charming and much more enjoyable than some of the busier towns on other parts of the lake. The restaurant has great food and a nice high-end bar selection. Prices are quite a bit higher than anything in the area, but the atmosphere makes it very worth it. The rooms could have been better-sealed to keep wind and bugs out, but I guess it can't be perfect in an eco-friendly resort in paradise. Definitely worth staying here, highly recommend.
