Hotel Il Castello

The location of the hotel is excellent next to the funicular, with great views. Certaldo Alto is small, so it close to several good restaurants and bars. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had two excellent meals, dinner on the restaurant terrace (with a great view) and lunch in the garden. Breakfast was good. My room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is a short distance from the railway station.

Beautiful building in a gorgeous old village. The courtyard is stunning. The restaurant was good.

Bedrooms are comfortable but a bit blah.

Location provided great views around Citaldo. Breakfast buffet was generous.

Some staff appeared grumpy at times.

The host Arthur was outstanding, kind and helpful and very interesting with his love of jazz. The hotel was wonderfully modernised while retaining it’s ancient charm. The location was superb: a short walk from the station to the funicular, up to the old town, turn right and you’re there. The restaurant was the best in Cetaldo.

Beautiful setting and comfortable room. It's like stepping back in time.

Tell people about the funicular before they drag luggage up that hill!!
