"Perfect Family Vacation"

10.0

We stayed 3 days in Passi Villas and enjoyed lovely beach, sea and nice swimming pool with nice arrangements. It was relaxing and refreshing vacation for us. Team in front office , room service and stewards in restaurant are attentive to details and remarkably good in servicing customers. We had remarkable experience of Water Sport activities in there. It is really unforgettable experience for my family members. Thanks once again and highly recommending your Hospitality. We love to go there again

"Family Trip"

10.0

It was a long awaited vacation and was so glad that we spent it over there. The service and hospitality provided was excellent with well mannered staff. The room and bathroom very spacious with a balcony having a beautiful view of the reef. Food delicious. Beach front property with an excellent pool. The water sports activities provided by “The Marina Beach”( Run by the same Company and a few hundred meters away down the beach) added so much more to the experience. Many thanks to the Manager and staff for a wonderful stay. Looking forward to coming back again. Last but not least...”Checked in happy but checked out relaxed and even happier”

"Excellent spot to relax"

8.0

We booked in here for three nights and extended our stay by another two as it was such a lovely place. It was very quiet during our stay, in fact the whole of Passikudah was almost deserted, and yet here we had the most pleasant beaches and calmest waters of our time so far in Sri Lanka, seems to be an overlooked resort. We were greeted with a warm welcome, cool face towels and a refreshing juice, which were just what we needed after a long journey. The hotel is very smart and nicely furnished. The lobby and restaurant space is large and airy and has a great view over the well tended gardens and towards the pool. Our room was fabulous. It was huge, with a vaulted roof, which made it seem even bigger. A large sheltered balcony overlooked the pool and ocean. The bathroom was again very spacious with a freestanding bath which you can watch the sea from! Having walked along the beach past several other hotels, I think the private beach area outside Passi Villas is one of the most pleasant on the resort. Yes there are patches of coral, but as the water is only knee deep it's not really an area for swimming anyway! We had several meals at the hotel and they were all fabulous, I'm a bit of a foodie so can be quite critical of meals out. Perhaps there has been a change of chef since some of the more negative reviews on here. We had buffet breakfast some days, which had a moderate selection, but sufficient choice of Western and Sri Lankan options. We also had set breakfast, which was a fabulous, huge array of dishes. We had several evening meals too from the a la carte menu. These were all really tasty and well presented, the curry and rice (with several side dishes) was my favourite. We were well looked after by all the staff and there was always someone on hand to assist or answer any queries. The waiters even took to coming up to our room with the evening menu so we could make our meal choices in advance and avoid a wait at the restaurant. Yes, there is a lack of information about hotel amenities and opening/service times, which has obviously been overlooked, but we just asked either at reception or via a phonecall and were told all we needed to know! Would definitely recommend a stay here, is great value at a peaceful resort.

"Good hotel, not so good food"

6.0

Pros - Excellent hotel staff, nice large rooms, good pool Cons - food (all 3 meals) was 2 stars at best. Had to take family outside to a local restaurant. Not much outside restaurant choices either. Cons - 10 min walk to swimming part of the bay. Cannot swim or use beach right in front of hotel.

"Wonderful"

10.0

Everything about this hotel was thoroughly enjoyable which is good because it is pretty remote from the town and tuk tuk not easily available. Having said that there was no real need to leave but there were a couple of local restaurants within few hundred metres

The area is a little behind catering for tourism than some of the other places in Sri Lanka we visited. They’re not long of of war and the Tsunami hit this area quite badly and therefore I’m aiming to be generous. Pros -Large room and spacious bathroom in the beach villas, the biggest we’ve encountered in Sri Lanka. -Grounds very well maintained, clean and peaceful -Staff polite and helpful -Nice pool area right on the beach and we got a sunbed easily -The beach and public beach down the road are lovely Could be better -Our first room had a bathroom with a damp patch nearly a metre in size as it had no extraction or windows. It smelt so bad of damp in the bathroom and bedroom that we asked to move. Our second room was much better although missing a large chunk of plaster in the bathroom ceiling. The staff were helpful and did move us, but not great to be given it to start with for nearly £100 a night! -Staff seem to bumble around lacking direction. They are lovely but it’s not very ‘slick’ and systems are not in place for what you’d expect for a 4* hotel... for example: -We had to go and ask what time breakfast was and what time the pool was open, basic information wasn’t provided at check in -The rooms are surface clean but could do with deeper cleans (an old soap bar on the ledge of our first room)...we were asked by the pool did we want our room cleaned that day, that should happen as standard. -Maintenance needed in the rooms eg chipping plaster, loose tiles -WiFi only works in communal areas There is lots of potential here and the staff do try, the hotel is in a lovely building but it’s no where near being four star with the current facilities and service provided. If I’d have paid 3* prices I’d have been happy, but not worth the price we paid

"Loads of potential but let down by lack of management"

6.0

Found this an incredibly frustrating hotel as couldn't work out why management just doesnt seem to care about their guests. The pros - fantastic size rooms and bathroom, fab pool and good location. The cons - no apparent management in place to run the place properly. Everyone that we spoke to who worked there were incredibly helpful and friendly..when asked for something specific. However there was no anticipation of people's needs. For example, literally no information/welcome pack anyway to tell you about Hotel, facilities or things to do. Room was made up only on request. With only one room key available you hamd it into reception and then they can do it. (Is cleaned to a high standard!). Regularly run out of swimming pool towels, have to ask at reception if pool attendant not around. Didn't ask for drinks as didnt know where to go so basically bought water and things at local supermarket. Food and restaurant (which is situated right next to reception so key to first impressions) is terrible. Dirty glasses and cutlery not cleared away, fruit, jams etc not covered so attracting flie. Apart from breakfast and lunch on arrival (terrible) we didn't eat there. Pretty much everyone round the pool would head to the next door hotel's Beach Bar 'Honey' for lunch and dinner. All in, money's walking out the door and no seems to care. I thought it was because it was a new Hotel, inexperienced management etc but was then told its part of a large chain of high end hotels. Which makes it even more confusing why they dont seem to care about this one. If you're an independent traveller looking for a nice bed and pool for a few nights this place is great. However if you're looking at it for a longer term holiday experience or honeymoon, would go elsewhere.

"Average Stay"

When we arrived we thought the hotel and rooms were lovelly. Pool area was clean and a friendly pool attendant who brings you towels and will try to help you with your poolside day. A really nice guy However, something lurks beneath this golden facade...... The food!!! I wouldnt feed it to a pig. Breakfast is buffet style and was usually room temperature. Good luck finding a table because none of the staff seemed bothered about clearing up tables after people had finished eating. When you do find a table or have managed to get one cleaned, then be prepared to be eating your food around all your dirty plates because these dont get taken either. We tried the restaurant for dinner one evening and this was worse than breakfast. We found a place down the road (about 10mins) called the crab and lobster and food was decent and cheap for the portion sizes. Its about 300 rupees away (by tuk tuk) but well worth it. Its a shame that the food and restaurant staff at the Passi Villas were so rubbish or we would have given this hotel a much higher rating.
