D' Art VILLA RETREAT AND SPA

I felt safe at the Villa, which was important to me as a woman traveling alone. However, I was also looking for a retreat and a spa experience, and the Villa didn't quite match that expectation. Despite its name, it felt more like a guest house than a dedicated retreat spa. The only available service was a massage, and there was a possibility of doing yoga with the owner in his upstairs space. I did have a couple of massages during my stay, a male therapist was brought in for the first massage and on request from myself a female therapist for the second one, as I discovered the massage given in Sri Lanka are full body including chest. The massage beds around the pool were uncomfortable, which was disappointing. Despite expressing my interest in other treatments upon arrival, I was not offered any additional options. I had breakfast at the Villa, and I also enjoyed evening meals there on three occasions. The food was delicious. Mr George very kindly made me a takeaway lunch one day as I had an early morning start. The rooms at the Villa were spacious and clean, which was a plus. Although the Villa is located a bit off the beaten track, they provide transport services to take guests anywhere they want to go. (At a cost) Additionally, the availability of the two bikes for guests to use was a nice addition. Both Mr. George and his assistant were friendly and welcoming, which added to the positive aspects of my stay.

We stayed for 2 weeks, the villa is in a beautiful setting overlooking the paddy fields and out to sea. Monkeys in the trees, Eagles and nature around it. It’s a 2 minute tuk tuk ride to the beach. We’ve stayed at quite a few properties around the Tangalle area in the past and no where else comes close to this. It’s a guest house but it’s 5-star. The standard of the rooms and fittings is way above any of the others for the price. Beds are really comfortable and the AC works really well, cable tv, fridge. Balconies over look the pool. There are not too many rooms so it feels very exclusive. The place is spotless. The open air feel of the lounge & dining room leading to the pool feels really relaxed, the design of the whole place is stunning with great attention to detail. At night with the lights on around the pool it looks amazing. The swimming pool is long and beautifully designed with built-in jacuzzi. There are massages available in the spa area, the whole pool area is perfect to relax around or sunbathe. Such a nice place to come back to after a day at the beach or surfing. The staff are amazing, the Sri Lankan manager George arranges tuk tuks, scooters, airport transfers and trips, anything you need. The food is the best part, fresh fish everyday when we wanted it, curries, sushi! Breakfast, lunch, dinner all available. Will be back again for sure next time when in the Tangalle area. Thanks!

D’Art Villa Retreat exudes, style and charm , fabulous design and layout. My room was superb , totally stylish , amazing swimming pool and areas to relax surrounded by stunning tropical plants . As a seasoned traveller I simply could not fault this unique place . The location is perfect , surrounded by tropical birds and monkeys . The friendly and helpful Tuk Tuk driver is on tap to take you to amazing beaches only a few minutes away. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was a complete experience , fabulous , obviously prepared with love and pride. I am returning in August .

Villa D'Art is an exceptional treasure! Beautiful space, everything you need at hand and absolutely amazing service made our stay there unforgettable. We also recommend trying the dinner - the seafood was delicious! THANK you!!!!

only thing to be aware of is no back-up generator in case of power outages. but the place is exceptional and staff could not be more helpful and welcoming

everthing ! when you walk into this villa it literally takes your breath away ! it's seriously impressive , the design aspect is a beautiful fusion of sophisticated contemporary with old school colonial style . we went for the deluxe king size room on the first floor which had spacious balcony nestled in the palm trees and overlooking the pool , it was really magical at night . the whole place is immaculately clean and the attention to detail bang on. the whole team were super professional and nothing was too much trouble . both breakfast and supper were superb as were the world class cocktails , we had supper at the chefs table where everything was cooked to order. having come from the hustle and bustle of Colombo this was the perfect place to really relax and unwind in affordable luxury , and despite the scale of the felt very cosy and intimate hygee ! thanks for a wonderful stay , will be back !!

We had an amazing stay at D’art villa! We needed somewhere to relax and unwind and we certainly did that. The massages were very professional and good value. The food was amazing. We told the staff what we liked and they specially bought fresh fish / seafood / vegetables and cooked delicious meals every day. The villa itself is beautifully designed and the room was extremely clean. The staff are professional and made us feel very special! The pool is long enough to swim for a bit of exercise or to relax in during the day. Overall the villa gives you a very personal experience, with only 5 rooms and lots of spaces to relax in. It feels more like a home than a big hotel. We will return next year and thanks to the team!

Well I was delighted to with my stay at the d art Villa TAngalle it had everything that you would need to relax on my travels. The pool was so large and the atmosphere is like a haven. My room over looking the pool was furnished to such a nigh standard. The staff couldn’t be nicer catering for my every need. I also was very impressed with my meals at the villa, fresh fish and a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and juice. I will be back for longer next time I found a gem 💎.
