River's Edge Resort

This resort extorted my money. I was double booked online because of a glitch online that caused a double booking. I immediately contacted the booking agency to let them know there was an error, along with the hotel directly. The hotel manager that I talked to said there would be no problem and that they would take care of the issue. We checked in to our room and again another lady which was the owner said no worries we will take care of it. We get to our room and because it was very small request an upgrade. She was very accommodating, and moved us to the river side. She then charged us another $400 for the total stay upgrade which I was fine with. Problem was the double booking refund of $400+ was never refunded. I confirmed with the booking agency that the resort was paid for both bookings and that they should have refunded the difference. I’ve waited 3 months+ and a dispute as well and nothing. So the Rivers Edge Resort in Winthrop received my payments for both the double booking and my upgrade payment and would not accommodate my refund. The manager on the phone confirmed she received all payments and basically told me she won’t do anything about it and is keeping my money!! This resort is not a hotel I would ever recommend!! The hot tubs are very dated and the jets barely work. The cabins are dated and the utensils they give you to cook with are from the dollar store. The bed we slept in was so old, broken and the mattress was sunk in like a 800lb couple slept in the bed!! Woke up every morning hurting from the bed! Then with the hot tub being a barely luke warm bath and no jets working, there was no comfort in this stay at all. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESORT!!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!! DO NOT BOOK! Quiet, cozy cabin. The hot tub was wonderful on a cold evening. The entire space was clean and well stocked. Everything worked as it should. Wonderful experience next to the river.

I did not like the fragrance used in washing/drying the sheets. It gives me a headache. I never use fragrance in my washing.

Breakfast in town was good. Limited options.

Next visit/reservation will be for riverside. Rather than right on the road.
