Hotel Estrella de Mar

clean, bright large rooms location

no food services, no drinking water available

the property itself is gorgeous and very well maintained, every little hallway and corner was beautiful to look at. our room was on the first floor and had a door that opened right onto the deck with a view of the ocean, so even just taking a rest felt luxurious. the people who run the hotel, Tino and Estrella, were so friendly and helpful, and the whole staff were exceptional.

the restaurant wasn’t operating for most of our trip and there were no hours listed. also be advised that the hotel is about a 15 min walk from the downtown strip so if you need dinner you likely have to walk that long. the distance from downtown does ensure it is very quiet and peaceful.

The entire time we were there, I never saw a single staff person. There was no one to ask about the wifi password, for example. Also, the room did not have drinking water, which means you couldn't even brush your teeth!

While this property is listed as having a restaurant and bar, it was almost impossible to find anyone to make food or drinks, and they were closed at odd hours.

Directly on the beach, walkable to town and other restaurants, really large rooms, friendly family staff.

Cold water was a shock to start but actually was sad to leave it by the end!

The hotel is directly on the beach. We fell asleep and woke to the sound of the ocean. The room was immaculate. The view from our first floor room looked out onto the deck and beach.

The initial bank transfer to reserve the room was somewhat confusing and cumbersome. Also, there was no hot water, which wasn’t much of an issue as the warm weather made each shower quite inviting.

it was in the process of renovation and amenities were not available: pool and bar, half of the deck was under construction, despite an over $100 per night price point they did not offer air conditioning in rooms, the rooms with AC would cost double, for Mexican standard this is ridiculous.
