Continental breakfast was missing good coffee. Expected more central otago wines in the bar!

Atmosphere of the old hotel. Friendly, helpful staff/management. Having dinner on site instead of having to go out, tho some more imaginative food would have been welcome.

Breakfast - some more variety perhaps? e.g. brown bread, vegemite or marmite, fresh fruit, changing types of stewed fruit. Parking - very convenient being just outside, but we were a bit nervous leaving the car overnight on the main road. Tiny bathroom and not much way to house toilet bags, etc.

Other peoples hair in the bathroom and on bed sheets. Not cleaned or checked properly. Breakfast room cold, no heating. Breakfast poor value. White bread only. Blue milk only. One choice of fruit. Evening meal poor quality and poor value.

Guest lounge was good. The staff were friendly. Art deco features were interesting.

Ideal for us. We loved the character of the place and all the history.

We thought to be more in keeping with the place, jars of jam etc in the breakfast room would be more in keeping instead of little plastic containers which add to pollution etc.

The location was pretty good in the centre of town. The people running the hotel were very helpful. The rooms and bathroom were clean and the bed was pretty comfortable. there is also a communal room upstairs where our rooms were so we could get together for a drink and a chat.

No A/C or fans in the rooms and it was hot! The food needs a big rethink - dinner was not great, quite uninspiring. Actually very expensive accommodation for what it was.
