Centralhotel Ratingen

IMPORTANT: I got my room for the regular price during peak dates. This was the hotel's own mistake but they did not cancel my room and just let me keep it. It's happened before that hotels would find some excuse to cancel my booking, just so they could relist the room for triple the price. Unfortunately it can't be taken for granted that a stay doesn't resort to shady practices. I really appreciate they admitted their loss and let me keep this room. The room was comfortable with extra privacy through an extra bedroom door (shields from noises on the porch) and blinds. The windows are sound proof. I slept right through a storm and was surprised at the noise when I opened the windows in the morning, haha. I had room 13 and could hear a chair being dragged across the floor each night. This probably didn't come from neighbours but from upstairs...? It was still pretty loud through ear plugs. Otherwise the place is very quiet. It's a classic, older hotel. Everything works fine. There's space under the desk where a minibar probably used to be. I think with a kettle and minibar this hotel could easily bump up its price while adding a lot of extra value. Location wise it may not be great if you travel by public transport. The nearest tram is a 10-minute walk away over a bridge. Reaching Düsseldorf takes a while; it's better to stay near Ratingen-Mitte if you rely on quick transport. For food there's the lidl across the road, 2 pizzerias and a petrol station with a small grocery section.

Dim lighting with warm yellow bulbs in all light fixtures. Cosy, but not ideal if you need to work during your stay.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially as this was a last minute booking, due to an issue with another hotel. The beds were very comfortable and perfect for a good rest. We greatly appreciate the on site fridge with water and other drinks, very good price for the drinks and we could pay at the end of our trip. Definitely needed that cold water after a long day out! Hotel is quiet and in a good area, even with a school and main road right nearby it wasn't too loud at all. Perfect for staying slightly outside of the city, with ubers being quite cheap to get into the center.

This is close to the airport. The man at the desk was very helpful. The rooms are dated, but I knew that from the photos. The room was clean and had all I needed for a good stay. Thank you!

It is tricky getting the key out of the lock.

Super quite & cozy with warm welcoming. Good choice for easy-goers.
