Centralhotel Ratingen

The check in staff were excellent and went beyond what I would normally expect by offering to take me to the airport when taxis could not be found.

Receptionist is very nice clean quiet room .definitely recommend for friends and other travelers

I did not arrive with high expectations at this 2-star hotel, but i was disappointed. The cost of the room was EUR 150 per night and it was not worth it. The hotel was dirty - hair on the pillows and the sheets, the toilet was also dirty, the chairs were stained... There was also a strange "chemical" smell in the room - maybe from the furniture or some sort of detergent. The breakfast costs EUR7.50 and was very modest - filter coffee, piece of bread and some 2 types of cold-cuts... The location is not the best either - at least 10 minute walk by the busy road to reach the 712 train stop that goes to Dusseldorf center and the center of Ratingen (which is 2 stops away with the train or 20 minute walk).

Can't necessary make a general judgement about all rooms in this hotel, but the one I've been staying into was above average for a 2* hotel. Clean and -I would describe it - 'correct'. Which means, I got what I paid for an average 60 EUR/night (incl. internet access and parking). A bit challenging to get in if you opt for a late check-in (reception is not manned 24 x 7), but it all worked out without any major issue. Initially - when seeing the ad photos they put on various booking sites - I was a bit reluctant picking the hotel, but I definitely consider it now an alternative for Ratingen area
