"Lovely and tranquil"

8.0

Lovely little hotel in a beautiful setting. Room was very nice, right at the front. Breakfast was delicious as was dinner we had there one of the nights. Staff were all friendly, courteous and helpful. Short walk to the shore of Loch Tay and the hotel has fishing rights on the loch. We had a lovely few days here.

Nothing really, the only thing I would highlight is that our room was really hot at night even with the window open and I think what contributed to that was that the towel radiator in the bathroom could not be turned off so even in July was giving out heat. It's an old building so the walls are thick and I guess that also holds the heat. Be aware that your room doesn't get cleaned every day and you don'tget fresh towels daily, which wasn't an issue for us as we were only there a couple of days but might be for some.

"Really enjoyed our two nights there."

8.0

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food beautifully cooked. The hotel is in a lovely place - the walk to the jetty is not too far and the views there fantastic.

There are no views of the loch from the hotel itself.

"A perfectly faultless Fawlty Towers (in the best possible way)"

9.0

There are so many things to absolutely love about this hotel! The location is outstanding - surrounded by natural beauty. The room was super spacious, spotlessly clean and everything worked - genuinely one of the best rooms I’ve stayed in! Outdoor seating area by the river lovely too! We didn’t have dinner there but the breakfast was pretty good!

The reception areas and lounges need some work! They’re odd - some feel unfinished or not in use! It was all rather confusing - a reception desk in the middle of nowhere with a sign to reception that takes you to toilets! (Just to name a few oddities)! The most bizarre part and one which was a constant source of a good giggle for us was the staff situation! There was one person, dripping with sweat, checking people in, showing them to their rooms, serving at the bar and the restaurant - it was insane (all done might I add with a very big welcoming smile on his face). The next morning, the Spanish man who we had serving us at breakfast (an absolute character), was knocking on our door calling out ‘house-keeping’! I’ve seen complaints about this but for us it was quirky and at times made us feel like we were on a sitcom!

"The hotel is very pleasant but the total absence of room cleaning was grim."

6.0

The location, while remote, is beautiful, nestling on the shores of Loch Tay. The room was furnished nicely and the beds were comfortable. The staff are friendly and there is a small bar where you can relax with a drink before dinner.

There were no fresh towels unless you requested them. The manager explained that they were on an eco system that didn’t allow detergent etc to be used. We understood this, but it would have been good to know that on arrival, so that we hung up our towels to dry. The room was not cleaned during our entire four day stay, the beds weren’t made , the bathroom never cleaned, not even the rubbish bins were emptied. This may have been another principle of the hotel, if so, it was never explained, but when I pay for a hotel room I don’t expect to have to clean it myself or empty the bins - nor to have to request it - surely this is part of the service you are paying for? After the first day, the television in our room stopped working. We reported it and to be fair we were offered another room, but to avoid the hassle of packing and unpacking, we decided to stay where we were. However, in the 4 days we were there, no tv repair was organised. We had dinner on the first night which was enjoyable, but the following day we received a text when we were out, saying that dinner would not be served that evening. That meant taking time out of our day to find somewhere to eat, when we had booked a hotel with a restaurant purposely to avoid this. We made our own arrangements after this, as we weren’t confident there wouldn’t be another last minute cancellation.
