Amazing location

We appreciated the beachfront setting. And the atmosphere.

We were unhappy with the accommodations we received. Although the photos on the internet gave the idea that the rooms looked out to sea, they actually overlooked the street or the next apartment complex. And we didn't have hot water.

The location is the best. Right on the beach with a nice view (if you have a room with ocean view). We had a view to another villa and it was a bit dark in the room. A/C and a fan. Bathroom is very clean and spacious with a lot of hangers, a cup for soap and a toothbrushes. Little table with tea, coffee and a kettle. A small refrigerator helped us to hide our sweets from ants.

I found some little, almost invisible insects on the table. A bit uncomfortable but seems they are quite common in the hotels near the sand. A bit overpriced comparing to our other hotel rooms in Weligama and Mirissa. Maybe it’s a typical price for Hikkaduwa. Floor carpets a bit dirty and not fresh. Chair pillows also not fresh.

Amazing location, right on the beach! Balcony looking over the beach also. The food is amazing here, bit tasty portions.

The bed is a little hard but was fine for a few nights!

The Main Reef Guest House is truly exceptional, nestled right on Hikkaduwa Beach. Our stay, complete with a simple yet fulfilling English breakfast, was elevated by a sea-facing room that enhanced the overall experience. The friendly host and staff contributed to the welcoming atmosphere, and the on-site restaurant offered delicious meals. The strategic location allowed us to explore nearby places on foot easily. Without a doubt, we would eagerly return to Main Reef Guest House, appreciating its beachfront charm, friendly service, and convenient accessibility. It left us with a memorable and positive impression, making it a definite choice for future visits.

It provided an enjoyable stay, with a minor improvement needed in staff responsiveness for towel changes. This was the sole drawback in an otherwise flawless experience. Despite the small hiccup, Main Reef Guest House remains highly recommended, with its positive attributes far outweighing any inconveniences, presenting a delightful choice for a beachfront stay.
