Incredible location with amazing lake and ocean views

Restaurants are unable to accommodate walk-ins or take-away requests, you have to reserve at least a day ahead of time. Basically no vegetarian options, even asking for a take-away pizza to eat in the room wasn't possible as the restaurant doesn't do take-aways and couldn't accommodate a single diner for one pizza despite over 20 unused tables. Staff not the most helpful though some did shine. Need to take a 5k JPY taxi into town to access other food options. Fireworks in town are great. Room smelled bad.

The settings and views are superb: from one side totally unobstructed views of Lake Toya and the sea on the other side! Our room had a Lake view and we took full advantage of that. The hotel decor, style and appearance are grand, and not by chance this hotel has been a repeated choice for several high profile events, such as G8 summits and so on. The choice of restaurants and food is varied and the quality of the food is excellent (we tried only Japanese food). The onsen/spa (one of them, which alternates daily between male and female) has an outdoor warm pool, with views of Lake Toya. Aside the onsen, there are very good facilities including swimming pools, souvenir shops, golf, skiing (in winter), etc.

The gym was quite small and not sufficiently equipped - e.g. no weights nor dumbbells. Some of the decoration items, upon closer scrutiny, were made of plastic, which did not quite fit the grandness of the place. Because of the location and the climate in the area, visibility can be very low. This was the case during two of the three days of our stay and we were fortunate that we had at least one day of clear and gorgeous weather. If you care about the views, take this into account when booking your stay. While the food in the hotel restaurants is excellent, it is also quite pricey - still an acceptable quality/price but be prepared to shell around ¥15,000 - 20,000 per person at least.

It's an amazing hotel sited on top of a hill overlooking on one side Lake Toya and on the, a bay being part of Sea of Japan and one has a 360° view of the entire valley lake and mountains including of Mt Yotei in the distance. Its also a beautiful n lavishly appointed hotel and one of its many claims to fame is being the site of a G8 Summit hotel in 2008. It has many lovely restaurants, a great onsen plus a nice golf course to boot. Locals regard this hotel as Hokkaido's most prestigious hotel, and one can fully understand once you stay there. The staff are so professional and courteous fm the doorman to everyone you come into contact as they all seem so conscious they have a very high reputation to maintain as The Top hotel in the region. A Must Return to hotel.

The vue and the luxury standard of the facilities.

Restaurant organisation attrocious. 8 restaurants. All open from 17.30 to 20.30 and 3 from 12.00 to 14.30. Room service(8 items on menu, no alchohol) 19.30 to 21.30. Breakfast stops at 10.00 All restaurants fully booked when we checked in at earliest time, 15.00, mo tables available in any restaurant. Room service took 1 hour.. Inadmissable that not at least 1(or 2) restaurants open throughoutt the day

Gilligans had very good breakfast. We enjoyed the quality and servings. Much appreciated. Also, staff, paticularly Malala, was friendly and engaging. The onsen was well-provided for.

There was no room service, except at 19:30. We arrived early afternoon and had no food to order, tho’ famished. Bummer. Japanese breakfast was limited, no other options given (e.g. if coffee was preferred over tea). Tha quality of food was very good, however. Wifi was slow in the room and lobby and unavailable at the gym.

Although the location for views is really good. As it's so far away from the town and lake, you need a taxi or use the shuttle bus to get to and from the hotel.
