the location, staff, and breakfast. it was a good stay.

I always like to stay for a 1-2 nights when i have international flights at Parkroyl. This time, the room was not as clean as the one i reserved during my previous stay; there was a smell in the carpet. Other than that, all good. still, it is my favourite hotel :).

The staff at the buffet were amazing and went above and beyond. We did get upgraded to airport view room as our room wasn’t ready and the reception staff at this point were lovely. However, the reception staff scheduled on after were grumpy. The proximity to the airport was the best part about this accomodation. The room was clean and presented nicely.

The staff on reception (this does not include the reception staff who first checked us in) were quite grumpy. It was also disappointing to be told that the porta cot for our 6 month old child could not come with a mattress due to health and safety. However as there was no mattress in the porta cot, it was unusable for our child as it was just the framing of the porta cot which was way too hard. We tried putting towels in the porta cot however this did not suffice as it was still too hard. We ended up having to put our child in the bed with us which is not only more of risk than it would’ve been to have a mattress in the porta cot, but it has now left our child unable to sleep through the night as it has broken their sleep training to sleep in a cot. If it weren’t for the proximity to the airport and the staff at the buffet this hotel has nothing going for it. The pool in the photos was also very small and difficult to find as the signage wasn’t clear. There was also work happening at the front of the building so the front entrance was blocked. This is totally out of the hands of the hotel, however there was no compensation for this inconvenience.

Melbourne Airport Standard King room. A cancelled Jetstar flight was being processed during our arrival so there was a long queue which was not what we expected at 11.45 pm after a 25 hour journey from Europe. The passengers from this flight were then noisy in adjoining rooms, ordering room service at 12.30-1.00 am. I had to ask them to stop talking so loudly. Our daughter picked us up the next day and was unable to decipher the directions at the airport and we ended up spending $18 on parking even though she was there for less than 15 mins. We had an issue with delivery of our breakfast but the hotel staff were very helpful in rectifying this.

The location is ideal - we were advised early regarding changes to entry due to works at airport. Handy to simply walk across to the terminals. Very quiet rooms - we didn't hear noise from anyone, or orther room. Beds are super comfy.
