Stayed in the appledore room was ok a bit shabby and the bathroom very shabby dirty paintwork and skirt boards Needs some TLC

A very enjoyable stay and really helped staff. The bedroom was very comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast and other meals. Such a lovely old building in a perfect central location within the town with convenient parking too. Thank you.

Really enjoyable stay at The White Lion . Wonderful pub , food and room , beautifully presented by Kelly , Mia and Jo . And Simon couldn’t have been more attentive at breakfast . Would highly recommend

There’s nothing we don’t like

We have stayed at a few Young’s Pubs as the service and food never disappoints, however… We were staying overnight on a Sunday, my husband and I were looking forward to their Sunday Roast, I requested beef, but they had run out, so I had fish and chips. On the menu it stated the fish came with triple cooked chips, they were French fries, tasted ok, as did the fish but wasn’t what was on described on the menu. My husband had pork and he enjoyed that. Breakfast was also disappointing, at other ones we have stayed there was a breakfast table where you could help yourself to cereal and pastries, not here. I chose smashed avocado on toast, with lime, it was just chunks of avocado, not great the poached eggs were fine. My husband had a ham and cheese omelette, this was hard and overcooked. Normally we would have spoken to the staff about it but we have a lot going on and didn’t feel like it. The staff were lovely though, very helpful and attentive, just think that they need to have a look at the chef and what is being served up as has the potential to be great!

Friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable bedroom with generous tea and coffee facilities and lovely large towels. Excellent and generous breakfast.

There was rather a long wait for breakfast - everyone arriving at the same time.

I’d stayed a couple of years ago for a family wedding. This time for a funeral nearby. There were only 2 rooms left when I booked online. The room was on the top floor. As there is no lift and because I have a leg issue, the staff kindly carried my suitcase up and down the many 2flights) of stairs. I enjoyed breakfast and evening meal both days . Which the food hit the spot. Only one member of staff taking orders for breakfast and serving /clearing the restaurant however they were patient and efficient. The pub location suited well, being on the high street as I was on public transport. The receptionist was very helpful when I needed to book a taxi. The bed was comfy, water hot and the box of nibbles very tempting although needed to be added to the bill. I wasn’t a fan of the long life milk in the little bottles for the tea. A good selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate. Would stay again .
