Tama Hotel

We like cats. But even if we didn't we would still have loved this hotel! I will never forget our stay at Tama Hotel, and hope to return again soon. The owner is passionate about cats, Elvis, and motorcycling - and he runs two great hotels. We stayed in the Tama Hotel section, rather than the M&K Hotel across the street. The room was decently sized, well appointed, and very comfortable. Ishinomaki is a great destination for Manga lovers too - and the M&K Hotel across the street, which you also have access too, has an extensive manga collection. Of course, we visited Ishinomaki to visit Tashirojima Cat Island, which was a beautiful and magical place - don't rush it, you will be stopping lots to pet and photograph the many cute cats. The owner shuttled us to the ferry, stopping along the way to buy us some tasty fresh bread (we went back the next day), seeing that we bought our ferry ticket without trouble (take cash), and even waving us off at the dock. You can really tell that the owner wants to make your experience one you will never forget. The cats in the salon next door are oh so cute and generally very friendly. It was so nice to just go and play with the cats, being so far away from our own cat at home. There are so many free amenities and services offered here, that I cannot list them all. The owner has much better English than my Japanese, and was a joy to meet and chat to (with the aid of Google translate). He even cooked us some food, and we shared some wine (he seems to like red wine!) You must stay here! - and then tell all your friends to stay here too! transportation was provided to the ferry to cat island and to the train station. Free breakfast pastry was provided, also. Bed was a large king-size. Brushes, toothbrushes, razors and bathrobes provided. There was a coffee maker, but we didn't find coffee except in the vending machine. Several restaurants and a convenience store close by. We would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone traveling to Ishinomaki!

The owner was incredibly generous, kind and helpful. We were going to Tashirojima (cat island) and this hotel was cat everything, including a cafe with 12 cats! The owner even drove us down to the ferry to go to the island! They have bikes to use for free and free wine too.

The air conditioner was a little difficult to operate. We figured it out though!

The staff were incredibly helpful, eg drove us to the ferry for a day trip, met the ferry on return, drove us to the train station at the end of our stay

The price, cats, bed sizes, there’s free bath salts, massage chair and wine. The rooms are clean and good sizes

The owner gave us a personal tour of the facility and drove us to our ferry and later to our train.

Friendly all inclusive service! If u are headed to cat island, Tama hotel is a great! We were driven to the ferry terminal in the morning, & picked up and dropped off at the JR station when we returned - give them a tip to say thank you! short stopover in the morning at a bakery where we were given the option of selecting 1 pastry each. Closest JR station is Rikuzen-yamashita. Walkable to hotel. Delicious local sushi restaurant 7 mins walk from hotel. 7-11 walkable too. Enjoyed playing with their in house and outdoor cats, and all the cute little cat designs.

The owner's hospitality was beyond my expectation. I highly recommend this hotel if you are going to visit Tashirojima (cat island). He drove us to the ferry and also picked us up when we returned! The style and decor of the hotel are very unique - there's a playroom with several cats. There are even bicycles that you can borrow to explore around town.
