La Villa Hotel

The place is beautiful as are the surrounds. The interiors design and furnishings are well thought out and quite stunning. Views to die for and great gardens and surrounds. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We booked a white truffle hunting experience with a local expert which was a real highlight of our trip.

We travelled in November which is slow season so the restaurant we were told we must booked in advance at the time of booking. When we checked in we were told there was no choice of menu. The 3 items on the menu were not to my liking and so I asked for a simple salad I was told a flat out NO by the chef as there were no salad items in the kitchen. The hotel is in the middle of know where and I was forced to order a dish I did not desire. The dish then was served and was the size of a small appetizer with the price of an expensive main course. The food experience was very disappointing. I understand from the owner that the hotel works mainly in weddings so I suppose one-off guests are not a priority. We had booked a couples massage but after waiting 30 minutes the masseuse informed us the other masseuse was ill and so we had to reduce the time of our massages and go one after the other. That was fine but not the romantic experience we had booked and to be honest the massage was a little on the light side with a lot of instructions to breath in and out which I suppose was intended to relax but had the opposite effect. We asked for an outdoor heater that we were offered at checkin be bought to our wonderful private terrace to enjoy the views in the late afternoon and watch the sun go down only to be told they had run out of gas.

An outstanding location with charming hosts, fantastic restaurant and a fantastic place to dive in a relaxing world.

Great breakfast. Hot dishes are prepared super quickly. Cold selection is great too.

Incredible staff recommended and booked an entire day of wine tasting and lunch for us. Excellent dinner each night from their coursed menu. Room and property were beautiful.

Me and my partner have just visited La Villa for a long weekend. We booked this place based on the great reviews and the beautiful location. We were worried that it would be too far out but I don’t think it was, especially not for the length of time we stayed. There is lots to offer there, beautiful walks, beautiful wineries near by, a very small spa and the swimming pool (unfortunately it was freezing), also a nice little village not too far. It is about 45 minutes from Barolo, Alba etc. Negatives: Before booking this we dealt with a lady called Morgana, unfortunately we didn’t get the best experience with her so we were very unsure as to whether we’d enjoy our time there or not. Prior to booking, she wouldn’t give me any information on what was to offer near by until I had payed for the booking, which wasn’t helpful as I wanted to know if it was going to be was we were looking for or not. She was rather abrupt and even when we had booked, she still made me feel like I was asking too much and made me feel like I couldn’t speak to her. There was no doubt that she gave me the information I wished for once I had booked, but I had to ask for everything, and I think the best experiences are when you are asked first if you would like help, not when you have to constantly ask and are made to feel demanding. Funnily enough another couple we did the wine tasting with (who have been the previous year aswell, said they had the exact same experience with Morgana). The breakfast is mediocre. They have a small cold buffet (no fruit). You get a tiny fruit plate to share when you are seated and can select hot food from the menu. My partner and I wanted bacon/scrambled egg on toast and some pancakes afterwards. What they don’t tell you is you have to pay for any extras. So the 1 hot plate we got each was for free, but the extra (pancakes) was €5 each. This wouldn’t bother me if it said on the menu, but it doesnt, so the menu needs to state that only 1 choose can be selected per person. There was SO MUCH miscommunication with the staff, different staff members would tell me different information regarding our bookings as they hadn’t communicated properly before handing over to eachother at the start/end of shifts. This was a problem as we had to chase different members of staff and remind them of things that we’d spoken to another person about the day before. Things seemed very unorganised amongst the staff and I think if things were more well rounded between everyone then the guests experience would be much better. Things like telling the guests about the walking routes (which I found a book about on the last day), the village around the corner, that you should book the spa in advance (as it is private slots), etc etc. We had to ask/find out everything which wasn’t so nice as we felt demanding and also clueless. The room was VERY hot, we turned the radiators off but the AC didn’t work. So we had to sleep with the windows wide open, filling the room with insects👍🏼 On our check out day we wanted some lunch (it was 2:30pm) and for whatever reason the kitchen wasn’t open and the only food they could offer was a ham and cheese toastie that the reception staff (not even kitchen) made. Positives: The restaurant is AMAZING, the waiters were very attentive and professional, really great service. The food was amazing, extremely good quality. We loved it all. The food and the wine. They have a huge wine selection and we had it chosen for us, each glass paired beautifully with our courses. A lady who worked on reception, I believe her name was Selba, was really lovely and did everything she could to help solve any problems and to meet our “demands”. She was very charismatic, friendly and really helpful, so thank you! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the grounds and surroundings are amazing. We stayed in a Suite and out of every door/window were views of vineyards, it was stunning. I think the location is perfect if you want to be out in the countryside, in the peace and quite. Overall our stay was lovely and I would recommend it to a friend, it was just unfortunate that the staff were a bit all over the place.

Wonderful place. Our second stay. Like a hidden gem. Most remarkable is the welcoming staff. Especially the sommelier at the restaurant does an excellent service🥂 We plan to come again. No need to book a fancy room (we have tried both) as there are plenty of outdoor areas to relax and enjoy the scenery

Lovely hotel with lovely decor, lovely hospitality including wine upon arrival and free upgrade and well decorated rooms. Wonderful outdoor spaces to relax and wonderful Piemonte view. A lovely relaxed hotel. Surprised they charge an extra €20pp for breakfast which is highly unusual and unheard of in our extensive travels including in this area where hotels are usually extremely generous with breakfasts. That said, we do recommend the hotel as a lovely break.

The beds were quite soft for our liking and the shower wet much of the bathroom. Breakfast was extra which is highly unusual given the price

Amazing straff and customer service, delicious breakfast, amazing restaurant, breath-taking views and overall the most relaxing place to be. The rooms are so comfortable and beautifully decorated. This was our second stay at La Villa and we will return again and again. One of my absolute favourite hotels.
