Hotel Töss

Hotel Toss is a mixed bag, located over an out off town shopping centre, close to Toss station and on a good bus route into Winterthur or 25 mins walk. The staff were great and the welcome is warm. There is a bar, an outside veranda and a dining room. The room was functional and well cleaned although there were signs of wear and tear that needed to be addressed. There is a slightly run down feeling about the place which does distract a little from what has the potential to be a nice hotel. There are Supermarkets and a Bakery / Café close by. I would certainly use again but it could be so much better.

We stayed here only because we needed some place close to Rhein waterfall. The location is right on the big street with no view. Hotel doesn't even look like hotel. It's just a building with rooms: no charm, no coziness. There was also a shisha bar in the hotel so it was a weird smell around. Staff was rude and I had to wait for someone to come to the reception more than 10 minutes. They spoke no English and spoke Turkish or Arabic with each other. The room was not bad and clean. Most importantly, bed was comfortable - the only one good thing about this hotel. Breakfast was just terrible. If you have a chance, just stay away from this place.

We stayed at this hotel, because it was late at night and we were tired. Otherwise, I don't think we would have chosen it. It was adequate, but lacking in charm, with a lackadaisical staff that was more interested in conversing with co-workers in Turkish than providing customer service. The hotel offers free parking on the roof of the shopping mall. Rooms lacked air conditioning. The highpoint of our stay was the breakfast buffet.

...and not in a good way. Hotel needs a renovation, rooms are small and not well equipped. My room had 1 light bulb failing each day and ended up with no hot water at the end of the stay. Noises at night are a regular thing. Breakfast is small, cold and not so good. Price does matter so if you're looking to a place that's nearly 2 times cheaper than the rest then Toss is your place

The first impression of this hotel from the outside is very tired and run down. It is far from obvious how to actually get into the carpark / reception area but we eventually found our way in through an unmarked door in a dirty shopping area. Once inside it was reasonably clean and certainly an improvement on the exterior. The room was also clean but in desperate need of refurbishment / updating. It had an early 90's style television which was damaged and repaired with sticky tape. One of the 3 windows opened but the outer metal roller shutter could not be opened from the inside meaning there was no natural light in the room. Being June the temperature was very high and the lack of air conditioning made for an uncomfortable night. Could not recommend this hotel.

If you would like to be among the first to visit next morning the Rhein Falls, stop for the night at Hotel Toss, Winterthur. We had a big room (for 2 people), clean with good shower. The heat was already on as did the towel heater, although it was not that cold outside. The pillows are soft and the bed mattress is comfortable but feels it's time to be changed since it is quite squeezed in the middle. For one night and just about half an hour driving on the way to the Rhein Falls it is o.k. Breakfast had sausages, cheese (yellow), yogurt, juice, coffee and tea, fruit and croissants no vegtables. There is free parking, but if you come late or with station wagon, you will have to drive very carefully since the parking lots are in angle and desinged for compact cars mostly. The parking is about 20-30 meters away from the sleeping area.
