Hotel SAMAI

Very nice and convenient Hotel with a rooftop terrace and a small but well equipped kitchen. The owners and the staff were extraordinarily pleasant and welcoming. We were even met at the bus stop. They organized the round trip to the different sights and helped us buying the bus tickets to Popayan. There was free water and tea and we received excellent tips about good restaurants nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Samai Hotel and even extended it for another day.

Paula and her team were very welcoming and sorted out tours for me and other info about staying in San Agustin. There is free water refill (cups only) and coffee at all times. Rooms felt new and had everything needed. Lots of places inside to sit besides being in the room. If you have a motorbike / bike they can be taken right into the lobby

It's on the main street so convenient but the trade off is noise but quiet inside the rooms.

Finally not much, room was clean. A friendly employee picked me up at the arrival (about 200 meters from hotel)

I booked a standard room (and not the economy room) which was supposed to be 15m2, however it was not more than 10 m2 (including bath), nearly no space to put the luggage and staff I expected that there is an external balcony as described, but they told me that the balcony is the entrance area I checked in at 22 pm. I was requested by email by booking to make a hotel review. I thought that this was the last night's hotel (and not Samai) and rated with a 7 (it was Samai). Paula (the administrator of Samai) knocked me at 23 pm the door, asking me whether want to checkout and she refunds me the money (since my review is bad and they suffer of such reviews. I was very surprised at this late time and considered this quite rude. I tried to cancel the review and I did this at night. In the morning, I mentioned to Paula that I am not very pleased what happens, the room is also very small. She denied. Another employee than told me that I don't pay much and should be pleased. I felt threatened by his agressive manner and went to the room. He tried to enter, but I closed before. I took a shower and started to pack my luggage. It was knocked again on the door and two police man were outside asking me to leave the hotel. I told them that this was my intention and they waited until I left. Overall, I think the hotel is overrated in booking. I guess that they pressure the customers on this. I think that it was very rude to call the police. I just want to reflect my experience in booking. If you go to Samai, better don't complain about something.

good location, friendly staff, clean.

The rooms are new and clean. There is a terrace where you can cook (fully equipped kitchen), wash your clothes and hang them to dry. The owners and staff are super welcoming and polite.
